A 26-year-old Halifax woman is facing 21 charges in relation to the alleged fraud of two employers — including Capital District Health Authority.

Crystal Rose Hatfield was arrested by Halifax Regional Police yesterday.

“The individual had (allegedly) taken cheques and deposited them in her own account,” said police spokesman Const. Brian Palmeter.

She is facing charges including fraud over $5,000, fraud under $5,000, theft over $5,000, theft under $5,000, breach of trust, false pretence and uttering forged documents.

Police allege the incidents involving Capital Health took place between February and May.

The other alleged fraud incidents involved Pathfinder Group and are alleged to have occurred between November 2008 and July 2009.

In June, Capital Health announced they had fired one employee and put another on leave after an internal probe alleged both were taking funds from the authority.

Hatfield was working in the accounts payable office and remains on unpaid administrative leave as the authority continues its own internal investigation for what it calls a “discrepancy” of less than $5,000.
