Women in business honoured

A personal injury lawyer, the founder and president of a technology training company, and the chief financial officer for the Ottawa Senators were all honoured as the 2009 business-women of the year Thursday night.

Brenda Hollingsworth, a partner at the law firm Auger Hollingsworth, was named the Women’s Business Network’s professional businesswoman of the year. Hollingsworth is a plaintiff side personal injury lawyer and author of two books.

Mia Hempey, the president and CEO of CTE Solutions Inc., was named the entrepreneur business-woman of the year.

Founded in 2002, the company has been profitable since its inception and under Hempey’s guidance, it has become one of the largest Microsoft Learning Solution providers in the country.

The WBN also honoured Senators Sport and Entertainment CFO Erin Crowe as the corporate businesswoman of the year. Crowe was promoted to CFO last June after 13 years with the Senators organization.

She is one of the first female alternate governors in the National Hockey League.
