Yoga session raises funds for arthritis

Around 100 people got out of the cold Vancouver rain yesterday and into a steaming hot gymnasium for a group yoga session and national fundraiser for arthritis research.

The third annual Power Of Movement event took place in 10 cities across Canada and was established to raise money for arthritis research while celebrating mobility.

People of all ages and fitness levels took part — including some in wheelchairs — at Vancouver’s event at the Crofton House School.

Kim Scarrow, who learned she had inflammatory arthritis of the spine when she was 18 after getting hurt in basketball practice, led the mega class.

She said she opened Vancouver’s first Moksha Yoga studio to share the therapeutic discipline with others.
