ABC upfront: Welcome back, ‘Angels,’ Allen

ABC showcased its 2011-12 schedule to advertisers at its
upfront presentation, the annual wooing of ad dollars, today. The lineup
includes eight new dramas, including a reboot of “Charlie’s Angels,” and five
new comedies, including Tim Allen’s return to television in “Last Man
Standing." You can check out clips of the seven new shows debuting this fall below.

“We’re thrilled to be launching a really diverse and
ambitious schedule that balances the strength and stability of our returning
hits with a slew of bold new shows,” Paul Lee, president, ABC Entertainment
Group, said in a statement.

Returning series include “America’s Funniest Home Videos,”
“The Bachelor,” “Body of Proof,” “Dancing with the Stars,” “Desperate
Housewives,” “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” “Happy Endings,” “Secret
Millionaire,” “Shark Tank” and “20/20,” which join previously announced
returning series “Castle,” “Cougar Town,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “The Middle,” “Modern
Family” and “Private Practice.” “Saturday Night College Football” also returns.

8-8:30 p.m.: “LAST MAN STANDING”
Tim Allen plays a guy’s guy, the marketing director of an
outdoor sporting goods store who is only out of his element at female-dominated
home.

8:30-9 p.m.: “MAN UP”
A trio of dudes tries to figure out just what it means to be
a dude these days.

9-10 p.m.: “Dancing with the Stars: Results Show”
10-11 p.m.: “Body of Proof”

8-8:30 p.m.: “The Middle”
8:30-9 p.m.: “SUBURGATORY”
A single dad (Jeremy Sisto) moves his 16-year-old to the
’burbs from New York City in search of the best life for his girl.

Emily Van Camp stars as a young woman hellbent on avenging
her family, once destroyed by a terrible event that happened in the Hamptons
years ago.

chance by Charlie Townsend to go on missions and redeem themselves.

Executive producer Darren Star (“Sex and the
City”) brings
this Dallas-based soap about a woman who returns to her hometown after
her
marriage ends in disgrace to the screen. Based on the best-selling book,
“Good
Christian Bitches.”

“Missing”
Ashley Judd stars as the mother of a teen who goes
missing
in Europe while studying abroad.

“The River”
A wildlife expert/television personality goes
missing in the
Amazon in this thriller from Steven Spielberg.

“Scandal”
Shonda Rhimes (“Grey’s Anatomy,” “Private
Practice”) brings
this series about the office of a professional crisis manager (Kerry
Washington) into her stable of relationship dramas.

Comedies:
“Apartment 23”
James Van Der Beek (playing himself!) and Krysten
Ritter are
swindlers who con a Midwestern girl (Dreama Walker) who moves to
Manhattan —
then turns the tables on them.

“Work It”
Two guys (Ben Koldyke; Amaury Nolasco) realize the
only way
they can score pharmaceutical sales positions would be to be women — and
so,
they don skirts and heels.
