TV Watch List: Tuesday, Sept. 20

Zooey Deschanel stars as the “adorkable” Jess in “New Girl.”

‘New Girl’
COMEDY. Zooey Deschanel is in her quirky-adorable prime as a socially awkward, geeky and impossibly C-U-T-E gal who searches for a new apartment post-breakup. Unlike the three dudes she moves in with, who are uncertain about this precocious little lady at first, viewers will either be completely charmed or left wondering what the fuss is all about right off the bat.
Series premiere, 9 p.m., Fox

DRAMA. The twist in this otherwise by-the-books procedural is that former detective Carrie Wells (Poppy Montgomery) has hyperthymesia, a rare condition that allows her to remember everything. Carrie’s back to solving crimes when her neighbor is killed, which prompts lots of flashbacks to the night of her own sister’s murder — the only thing Carrie can’t recall.
Series premiere, 10 p.m., CBS

COMEDY. Sue Sylvester runs for congress. Well a girl’s gotta have a backup plan when she loses an Emmy race.
Season premiere, 8 p.m., Fox

‘Body of Proof’
DRAMA. The investigation of a fatal car accident leads to the dark side of a suburban cul-de-sac. Do we sense a “Desperate Housewives” crossover, Dana Delany? Yes! But no, that’s not actually happening tonight.
Season premiere, 10:01 p.m., ABC
