Ashton and Demi split: Did an ‘open marriage’ drive them apart?

Demi Moore this week announced that she was ending her six-year marriage to actor Ashton Kutcher, adding, that “as a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows
that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move
forward with my life.”

Ashton, who recently took a vow of Twitter silence, reported back to his throne as King of Twitter stating, “I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi. Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and sometimes they fail. Love and light, AK”

The divorce follows a string of reported flings by Kutcher in which two of the alleged mistresses went public with their allegations. Upon exposing Kutcher’s infidelity, Brittney Jones told Star magazine in an interview obtained by Radar that Kutcher had told her that he and Moore “have threesomes often and that because of that, she “didn’t feel at all like he had just cheated on his wife”.

“Everyone in Hollywood knows about their arrangement, but they’ve managed to keep it a secret from the general public,” a source told Star. Adding, “Demi is attracted to women just as much as men … She was cool with Ashton having flirtatious relationships too. Somehow they made it work all these years. Both of them were respectful of each other. It was a lot of fun for them.”

In the time since the allegations had been made, Moore, 49, and Kutcher, 33, seemed to be working on their relationship, showing up together for Yom Kippur services and were seen building a campfire in Santa Barbara with their Kabbalah instructor. However, those close to the couple say the union had been under strain for some time, and spending more time apart.

While at first having seemed like an unlikely couple, Kutcher and Moore who wed in 2005, seemed to be just peachy. However, with Kutcher’s alleged affairs their relationship had taken a turn for the worse. Was it the open relationship that drove them apart? Or was it just that word of their arrangement went public?
