‘Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory’
FILM. Directors Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky have followed the case of the West Memphis 3 — three teenagers convicted of the rape, mutilation and murder of three 8-year-old boys in 1994 — for almost two decades. The filmmakers’ resulting documentary, “Paradise Lost,” and its sequel, “Paradise Lost 2:  Revelations,” sparked an international effort to aid the men when their trial was revealed to be a modern-day witch-hunt. The directors began work on “Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory” in 2004, unearthing DNA and other forensic evidence, as well as allegations of juror misconduct. The West Memphis 3 have since been freed, with “Purgatory” updated to include their remarkable release. “To see our work culminate in the righting of this tragic miscarriage of justice is more than a filmmaker could ask for,” says Berlinger.
Premiere, 9 p.m., HBO

‘Rob’

COMEDY. Rob Schneider plays a bachelor who elopes, but marries more than his new out-of-his-league bride — now he must contend with her tight-knit Mexican-American family, too. It’s like a “Saturday Night Live” sketch from the ’90s expanded to 30 minutes! We’ll leave it to you to decide if that’s a good thing.
Series premiere, 8:30 p.m., CBS

‘30 Rock’
COMEDY. What’s the only thing that would cause Kenneth to knock off work? The Rapture, of course. And while he’s busying himself with Doomsday chores, Jenna and Jack deal with her newfound fame as the “mean” judge on the new reality series “America’s Kidz Got Singing.” (Welcome back, you zany “30 Rock” kids!)
Season premiere, 8 p.m., NBC
