Comedian David Cross admits doing cocaine at White House

Cross said the jolt he got from snorting coke at the White House was similar to licking the inside of an espresso cup.

Comedian David Cross confessed in a Playboy interview to snorting cocaine in the same room as President Barak Obama while attending the White House correspondents’ dinner.

The ‘Arrested Development’ star has told the story before in a standup show in 2009 but audiences assumed it was part of the act.

“It wasn’t even that much cocaine, it was literally the size of, I don’t know, a tick,” he told Playboy

“I ducked under the table and did it. It wasn’t like I got high. The jolt was similar to licking an empty espresso cup. It wasn’t about that. It was just about being able to say that I did it, that I did cocaine in the same room as the President.”

His girlfriend, Amber Tamblyn, had been invited to the dinner and brought Cross as her guest. He told her that he “needed a witness” and invited her to watch as he snorted it off his wrist.

Although Cross said he is neither proud nor ashamed of what he did, he does regret having Tamblyn blacklisted from future White House events.

“I was her date, her plus-one, and she got dragged through the mud because of what I did,” he said.

“She had nothing to do with it. She didn’t know I was going to do it. And because of that, she’ll never be invited to the White House again. That’s not cool.”
