WonderCon: What summer movies await us

It’s Spidey!

The summer movie season is fast approaching, and with that in mind the big Hollywood studios headed to WonderCon — the little brother to July’s monster Comic-Con in San Diego  — to show off some of their coming attractions. Here’s what we learned about some of the biggest films offering up teases this weekend:

‘Snow White and the Huntsman’

Kristen Stewart is still a hit with convention audiences: “It was fun. It was nice to arrive with someone like Kristen as a little secret,” says director Rupert Sanders, who surprised the WonderCon panel with an appearance by Stewart. “Outside of ‘Twilight’ — which everyone thinks she actually is Bella for some reason. She’s such a good actor and she encompassed that role so well that people think that’s how she is. And when you meet Kristen, she’s so far away from that character.”

There will be blood: “It’s its own story. If there’s a desire for people to want to continue with those characters — I think there will be, they’re such great characters, they’re well-played,” Sanders say on the topic of a possible sequel to the fairy tale film. “A couple of people end up dead, so I’d have to fill those shoes.”

It’s not a prequel, for real: While Ridley Scott’s “Prometheus” has been hinted at as having connections to his classic “Alien,” Scott and writer Damon Lindelof explain that this is not, in fact, a prequel. “Normally that’s the definition of a prequel, is that it preceeds the other movies,” Lindelof says. “And there’s an inevitability to watching a prequel of going, ‘If the end of this movie is just going to be the room that John Hurt walks into that’s full of eggs, there’s nothing interesting in that.’”

‘The Amazing Spider-Man’

Geeks are picky about hair  color: Emma Stone, who stars as Peter Parker’s love interest Gwen Stacey, admits she was completely caught off-guard by how much Spider-Man fans criticized her casting based purely on her hair. “I’m blonde. I mean, my actual hair is blonde. I dye it red usually. It’s incredible how much people care about hair and ask about hair,” Stone says. “In the comics she’s got really, really light blonde hair.”
