TV picks: Weekend, March 30-April 1

Sarah Linden (Mireille Enos) is the lead detective in the Rosie Larsen murder investigation on "The Killing."

“The Killing”
DRAMA. Viewers of this series deserve an Emmy for Most Patient Audience after slogging through the emotionally taxing case of young Rosie Larsen’s brutal murder in Season 1, only to be led astray by yet another red herring in the season finale, leaving the case unsolved. Though well acted, this slow-moving, rain soaked drama is depression manifested. At least this time around, AMC has actually promised some closure for Rosie’s family — and fans — declaring the murder will be solved in Season 2.
Season premiere, Sunday, 8 p.m., AMC

“Masterpiece Classic”
MINISERIES. Will audiences show this “Masterpiece” adaptation of Charles Dickens’ “Great Expectations” the same love they offered British period drama “Downton Abbey”? Even if they’re not yet familiar with the mentally unhinged Miss Havisham, portrayed here with haunted iciness by Gillian Anderson, this two-part film is poised to garner its own awed fans.
Miniseries premiere, Sunday, 8 p.m., PBS

“The 47th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards”

SPECIAL. Reba McEntire and Blake Shelton once again share hosting duties at this annual fete honoring country music’s finest. Usual suspects Carrie Underwood, Kenny Chesney and Toby Keith perform; contenders for New Artist of the Year — chosen by fans — include “American Idol” winner Scotty McCreery, Hunter Hayes and Brantley Gilbert.
Sunday, 8 p.m., CBS

“The Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards”
SPECIAL. Speaking of fan-focused awards, kids pick their pop culture faves in this slime-filled party, this year hosted by Will Smith.
Saturday, 8 p.m., Nickelodeon

“Wicked Tuna”
REALITY. Fisherman in Gloucester, Mass., hunt for bluefin tuna — a prize caught by rod and reel and worth upwards of $20,000 commercially per fish — in the latest entry in the “manly men doing manly things” genre.
Series premiere, Sunday, 10 p.m., Nat Geo
