Phillies wow crowd at Shane Victorino’s fashion show

The Phillies enjoyed their off-day Monday by strutting down the runway at Shane Victorino’s third annual All-Star Celebrity Fashion Show.

The sold-out event was held at the Union League of Philadelphia and benefited the Shane Victorino Foundation. It was sponsored by Caesars Atlantic City and Neiman Marcus Philadelphia.

“It’s a very special evening and we’re overwhelmed with support. Melissa and I are thankful to my teammates and to all who make the event possible, especially Neiman Marcus and Caesars Atlantic City,” Victorino said.

The evening started with a VIP reception and silent auction. High-priced items on the auction block were an all-expenses paid trip to see “Dancing with the Stars,” a rare, handmade bottle of Hennessy Richard Cognac, signed boxing gloves from Bernard Hopkins, a James Taylor concert and a slew of autographed Phillies memorabilia, including Shane Victorino’s 24-karat gold leaf bat.

Of course, the highlight was the fashion show.

“Thank you to everyone, we have phenomenal fan support,” said Phillies president Dave Montgomery. “They fill up Citizens Bank Park, support us on the road and also follow our players in their charity events. Thank you, let’s enjoy the evening,”

The Phillie Phantic kicked it off in a stylish tux form-fitted for the most famous mascot in sports. He was followed by Shane, clad in a Marlon Brando T-shirt, and his wife, Melissa. However, it was the couple’s 4-year-old daughter Kalia who stole the show. The audience erupted after she took a solo lap down the runway and stopped to strike a pose.

Even though Chase Utley is rehabbing in Florida, his wife, Jen, was on hand. She wore a stunning leather dress and was escorted by Brooke Nix (wife of Laynce Nix) and guest Drew Katz. Cole Hamels graced the stage three different times, most famously his first jaunt, when he sported a trench coat with orange jeans and a Phillies-inspired striped shirt.

Hunter Pence, who ripped his shirt off a year ago, attended with guest Savanna Swetland. Pence faked like he was going to remove his shirt, then imitated Hulk Hogan by cupping his hand to his ear. Jonathan Papelbon, accompanied by wife, Ashley, donned a sports coat over a No. 58 Phillies jersey, which was actually auctioned off.

Perhaps the loudest cheers of the evening, aside from Kalia Victorino, went to boxer Bernard Hopkins. He was dressed in a stylish suit and paused to point to his designer shoes.

Other celebrities/athletes on the runway included David Brenner, Mike and Ashley Fontenot, Kyle and Stephanie Kendrick, John Mayberry Jr., Jimmy Rollins, Joe Piscopo, Mia Tinari, Chad and Tara Qualls, Joe and Jen Savery, Michael Schwimer and Missy Cole, Ty and Angela Wigginton.

Cliff and Kristen Lee were in attendance, but watched from afar. Lewis Katz was honored with the Shane Victorino Foundation Community Leadership Award and Garry Maddox was presented the Harry Kalas Strong Voice in the Community Leadership Award.
