Wednesday gossip roundup: John Travolta’s PDA will disprove all the gay rumors

Actor John Travolta and wife actress Kelly Preston arrive at the Los Angeles Premiere for "Savages" at Mann Village Theatre on June 25.

John Travolta made his first public appearance since being hit with a cavalcade of sexual misconduct lawsuits from various service industry men, and it appears he decided actions would speak louder than words. Travolta hit the red carpet for the premiere of his latest film, Oliver Stone‘s “Savages,” and instead of stopping to give any interviews he and wife Kelly Preston put on an impressive show of public displays of affection, groping and kissing each other all the way down the carpet, according to Hollyscoop. The couple literally could not — or at least would not — keep their hands off each other. The appearance came just hours after a male cruise ship employee filed a federal suit against Travolta claiming sexual misconduct.

Scarlett Johansson could be compensated more than $66,000 for having nude photos leaked in 2011, according to the Los Angeles Times. Federal prosecutors suggest in a sentencing memo that Christopher Cheney, who pleaded guilty to nine counts of hacking, compensate some of his high-profile targets, including Johansson. They also suggest $7,500 for Christina Aguilera and $76,767.35 for “Secret Life of the American Teenager” star Renee Olstead. In addition, prosecutors are suggesting a 71-month prison sentence for Cheney.

Charlie Sheen is up to his old tricks, reportedly trashing another luxury New York hotel room while in town with ex-wife Denise Richards and their kids, according to Us weekly. While Richards was promoting her new film, “Madea’s Witness Protection,” Sheen reportedly retreated to the Ritz-Carlton for a weekend-long, drug-fueled party. “He totally trashed the hotel room,” a source says. “In the end, Charlie was told that he wasn’t welcome at another Ritz property ever again.” Richards isn’t too pleased either, another source says, since it was during a family trip to NYC in 2011 that Sheen had his infamous Plaza hotel bender that landed him in the hospital. He’d reportedly promised Richards “that this was a chance for a ‘do over’” of that trip, the source says. “Denise is kicking herself for not learning her lesson.”

Katy Perry recently let slip her plans to start her own record label, though the announcement might have been a tad early. “I haven’t finished it all up, so it’s a bit premature, but really I would like to give the opportunity to other people who are frustrated, like what I went through,” Perry tells Hollyscoop. “I think there are other people out there that are truly talented that have something to say, and their visions need to be realized and they need to be treated fairly. I’m just going to treat people how I want to be treated, you know?”

Since their alleged feud erupted in a nightclub brawl last week, Drake and Chris Brown have become very public rivals. And now some folks would like to see them duke it out in the ring. Billionaire Alki David is offering the R&B stars $1 million each — plus an additional million for charity — to strap on gloves for a pay-per-view boxing match, according to the New York Daily News. Boxing promoter Damon Feldman, who’s handling the proposed event, thinks it’s a brilliant idea, naturally. “Obviously they have a grudge. It’s just three 1-minute rounds. No one will get seriously hurt,” he tells the newspaper. “I would love to have Rihanna as the ring girl.”

Ryan Phillippe didn’t find any takers for his Hollywood Hills oasis of relaxation the first time around, so he’s dropping the price, according to Zillow. The five-bedroom, six-and-a-half bathroom home — dubbed “Rising Zen” — was first listed for $7.45 million in 2010 before it was taken off the market a year later. Now the home is listed again, with an asking price of $6.995 million. That still-impressive price tag buys a two-story gym, a media room, a koi pond, an aquarium-themed bar and panoramic views. The pool even has underwater speakers.
