Make Sunday your big night out

Save your Sunday afternoon theater ticket stub for a free drink at Haven at the Sanctuary Hotel.

“With people working harder than ever and trying to get every moment out of the weekend, there is no reason for them not to enjoy themselves on Sunday, too,” says Adam DelGiudice, beverage director at the newly opened Noir. On Sunday evenings, Noir’s entrees are accompanied by a complimentary cocktail specifically paired for the dish by DelGuidice and Michelin-starred chef Jean-Yves Schillinger. “Folks look to end the weekend on a high note and start the week off on the right foot,” DelGuidice adds.

Do a Broadway show on a Sunday and hop to the newly opened Haven at the Sanctuary Hotel afterward for a bite. Show your theater ticket stub for a complimentary cocktail with the purchase of one of Chef Madison Belem’s signature entrees: How about spicy Cajun chicken or a summery Nicoise salad?

Dance, drink and watch a band at Thom Bar’s Cuba Sundays (9 p.m. to 1 a.m., cover). The bar features authentic Cuban Mojito specials ($10 a pop) and music from Cuban band Grupo Irek, as well as DJ Wanda mixing up salsa, cha-cha, mambo, merengue, rumba and more.

Lounge poolside and dig some new sounds at the Gansevoort Park Avenue Hotel’s Summer Series (3:30 to 8:30 p.m., no cover). This weekly artist showcase features sets by  producer/DJ hotshots such as Morten Breum and Hard Rock Sofa every Sunday. It’s a rare opportunity for non-hotel guests to access the entire tri-level rooftop complex (table reservations are required for pool access), which looks onto the Empire State Building. Other views include top-shelf celebs, poolside and barside.

Wind down with Asellina’s new Mediterranean-inspired Sunday Supper. Chef Marco Porceddu’s three-course prix-fixe menu (6 to 10 p.m., $35) includes ricotta salad with white balsamic vinegar, sauteed shrimp with cannellini beans and leeks, lamb meatballs with wild mushrooms, seafood stew with garlic ciabatta and tangy citrus panna cotta. Asellina’s regular menu is available, too, and the restaurant’s  “Wine Down Sundays” means half-priced bottles of wine. 

“Growing up in Italy, Sunday evenings were about family and friends getting together to share home-cooked meals and bottles of wine,” says Chef Marco Porceddu. “Our Sunday Supper offers a fun, relaxing way to cap off your busy New York weekend.”
