Andre Braugher stars in "Last Resort."

“Last Resort”
Is there heroism in disobedience? Shawn Ryan — who proved to be a master of the anti-hero with his game-changing cop drama “The Shield” — is behind this tale of a U.S. ballistic missile submarine crew who disobeys unexpected orders to blow up Pakistan and subsequently becomes enemies of the state. Andre Braugher’s commanding presence and Scott Speedman’s impossibly square jaw make this drama very watchable, even when all of the “what is happening?!” action slows down.
Premieres Sept. 27, 8 p.m., ABC

“Elementary”
Jonny Lee Miller is Sherlock and Lucy Liu Watson
in this update on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s famous detective. Find out
all about the latest incarnation of the crime-fighting pair in our
interview with the stars here.
Premieres Sept. 27, 10 p.m., CBS

“Beauty and the Beast”
This take on the classic tale is less Disney and more monster soap opera of the ’80s — The CW version is considered a reboot of the “Beauty and the Beast” fairy tale starring Linda Hamilton and Ron Perlman, with Kristin Kreuk and Jay Ryan playing modern takes on the Catherine and Vincent characters. Kreuk is an NYPD detective who has crossed paths with Ryan’s mysterious doctor in the past — in his “creature” state, he once saved her life. She reconnects with him, even though he was reportedly killed by enemy fire while serving in Afghanistan and has been living on the fringes of society because of his alter ego.
Premieres Oct. 11, 9 p.m., The CW
