Call in the Christmas Cavalcade!

Chandler Travis leads the Christmas Cavalcade.

Chandler Travis may wear a hat that says “Bah Humbug,” but he actually loves the holidays.

“Christmas is the only holiday that has its own music,” says the singer, whose Chandler Travis Philharmonic leads the Christmas Cavalcade. “The bad stuff is pretty wretched. … But when it’s right, it gets you in the spirit of the season.”

The sometimes Incredible Casuals frontman should know. For 26 years, he’s been making Christmas mix tapes for friends and he writes his own carols, too. He even spoofed Phil Spector’s hallowed Christmas album with his own collection, “Another Christmas Gift For You.”

This year’s Cavalcade cast includes veterans Jennifer Kimball, Merrie Amsterburg, Shaun Wortis and the Philharmonic alums Rikki Bates, Fred Boak, Dinty Child and Bob Pilkington. Somehow, one of Travis’ other bands, the Catbirds, snuck onto the bill as well.

“My life is pretty selfish. I don’t have kids and I do what I love: making music. So, this is an opportunity to be a little less selfish. Well, I’m still doing what I love, so it’s still selfish, I suppose. And I’m doing it with all these great folks.”
