TV picks: Monday, Dec. 17
DRAMA. There are three things we will miss about the pop culture phenomenon “Gossip Girl” as it signs off with one final xoxo tonight: Headbands (and other fashion statements that had teenage girls and grown woman alike clamoring), Chuck Bass (no comment necessary regarding the end of this dapper bad boy) and controversy (Sex! Parties! The Parents Television Council hyperventilating!). What we simply can’t miss: The unveiling of the identity of the show’s titular blogger tonight.
Series finale, 8 p.m., The CW
COMEDY. NBC adds another dysfunctional family to its sitcom lineup, this one about the most famous clan in the United States of America: the first family. “Independence Day” star Bill Pullman pulls presidential duty again here, but it’s Josh Gad who steals scenes as goofball eldest son. The series receives its official premiere Jan. 10.
Sneak preview, 9:30 p.m., NBC
“How I Met Your Mother”
COMEDY. More awkward than Lily and Marshall running into a creepy college acquaintance (guest star Seth Green, in a nice “Buffy” reunion with Alyson Hannigan) is Ted trying to decide whether or not to tell Robin that Barney plans on proposing to Patrice.
Midseason finale, 8 p.m., CBS
