Lindsay Lohan appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman on Tuesday night, and believe it or not it wasn’t a total disaster.

She was there to promote her role in “Scary Movie 5,” but given recent headlines, that’s not what Letterman asked the troubled actress about.

Leave it to Letterman to ask all the questions we’re dying to have answered.

Right off the bat, Letterman asked “Aren’t you supposed to be in rehab now?” and “What are they going to work on when you walk through the door?” He asked what she was going to rehab for. Alcohol? Drugs?

In her defense, LiLo handled herself well.

“To be honest, I’m happiest when I’m working and healthiest, and I think this is an opportunity for me to focus on what I love in life and I don’t think it’s a bad thing. I think it’s a blessing,” she said.

Her banter with Letterman was charming, and she took command of the interview.

“You sound like Dr. Phil,” Lohan said when Letterman asked her if she has addiction problems.

“Yeah, I’m sorry. Is it, like alcohol? Do you drink too much?” he asked.

Clearly a bit uncomfortable, Lohan reminded him that they had discussed this topic in the past.

“Did we really? When did we discuss – now I’m the one who’s having the blackouts. I oughta be at rehab. For the love of God, what is wrong with me?”

Albeit well rehearsed, LiLo took responsibility for her troubled history and was even able to laugh at herself.

As Lohan heads off to rehab for three months May 2, after the Coachella music festival of course, here’s to hoping it does her some good. Given that history tends to repeats itself and we’re bound to regret this later, but for the time being: We’re rooting for you, girlfriend.
