I’m just going to go ahead and say it: Miley Cyrus DGAF and I sort of love her for it.

What? Don’t look at me like that. The hipster dream sequence/American Apparel ad on acid spectacle that was the video for “We Can’t Stop” was weird as hell, but it was also sort of amazing. And you all know it.

And here’s the thing, people. Do you know how old Miley Cyrus is? She is 20 years old. Do you remember what you were doing at 20? Not GAF, pretty much. Getting all kinds of messed up on all kinds of substances and making all kinds of mistakes. (Ahem, at least that’s what I imagine YOU all were doing. I was studying for finals, in my pajamas, at all times.)

The difference between 20-year-old Miley Cyrus and 20-year-old you and me, however, is that we didn’t have cameras documenting our every move. (Unless you did, in which case — hey, cool, thanks for taking time out of your fancy celebrity life and reading this column!)

So, in my estimation, Miley Cyrus is pretty much hitting all the normal, 20-year-old idiot signposts — and awesomely so.

Case in point: In response to the hysterics the entire world has been having since her VMA performance (I’m having a little chuckle at my desk right now imagining middle-aged women across the country furiously googling the word “twerk” and getting really, really confused) Miley did not issue some half-assed apology for slutting it up and having a good time via Twitter.

No, Miley instead began tweeting a bunch of slutty pics of herself — all of them featuring her bony butt from its least bony angle — by way of issuing the world a big middle finger. Get on with your bad self, Miley.
