VIDEO: ‘Peter Pan’ actor proposes to ‘Wendy’ during performance

Audience members had one magical night at a performance of “Peter Pan – The Never Ending Story” in Glasgow, U.K., when the actor who plays Peter Pan proposed to the actress who portrays Wendy, reports the Scottish Daily Record.

The entire cast of the modern musical based on the classic story was singing “You Raise Me Up” before Sandor Sturbl, who plays Peter Pan, interrupted the show. Sturbl got down on one knee and made an announcement: He wanted his girlfriend Lilly-Jane Young, who plays Wendy, to be his wife.

Young began to break down and cry as audience members cheered – she said yes. Young, 22, told the Daily Record she initially thought something was wrong. “We were just about to sing our final song of the night when the music suddenly stopped,” she said. “I thought it was a technical hitch and was staring to panic when Sandor turned to the audience and said, ‘Well, ladies and gentlemen, this is usually the moment when Peter Pan gives Wendy a kiss. Lilly-Jane is the love of my life. She’s from Glasgow and performing here means the world to her. That’s why I want to ask her to marry me.’”

Young called it a “magical moment” she’d never forget. Sandor even made sure Young’s family was in the audience for the proposal on Jan. 11. He slipped a blue sapphire and diamond engagement ring on her finger – the design is called “Wendy.” Sandor told the Daily Record that he took the name of the ring as a sign.

The ring was a good choice. Young said, “I feel like the luckiest girl alive and I can’t wait to marry Sandor.” It looks like this Peter Pan is going to grow up.
