The Word: Katherine Heigl thinks the Internet has no memory

NBCUniversal's 2014 Summer TCA Tour - Day 1 - Arrivals

Katherine Heigl is looking to rewrite history in her ongoing image rehabilitation efforts while promoting her new TV series, “State of Affairs.” The former “Grey’s Anatomy” star now insists she left the popular medical drama not because of dissatisfaction with the writing but because she didn’t like being a working mom. “I felt like my priorities were messed up. I was putting so much time and energy into just my work, but I was raised [to believe] that family comes first,” Heigl tells Us Weekly. “I would come home angry and frustrated that I’d missed everything with my kid that day. I didn’t get to wake her up from her nap or do bath time or bedtime. I’d have to sneak into her room and kiss her when she was sleeping, hoping not to wake her up.” All perfectly valid reasons, granted, but she seems to not realize that all the stuff she used to say – like “I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination” — is actually written down somewhere.

Documents signal Clooney and Alamuddin wedding imminent

The wedding is on, apparently, as George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin have posted the legally required wedding banns (or marriage license) at London’s Chelsea Town Hall, indicating they’re planning to get hitched imminently, according to People magazine. The document is required to be publicly displayed for at least 16 days before a couple weds, so the clock is ticking. Sources say Clooney and Alamuddin are actually going to be having their big day at the “Ocean’s 11″ star’s villa in Lake Como, Italy sometime next month.

Lohan’s sober pals left high and dry

Lindsay Lohan’s sober pals are worried about her — which would seem to be standard operating procedure for Lindsay Lohan’s sober pals. But specifically, this time, it’s because Lohan is ignoring their text messages and phone calls while she parties across Europe, according to Radar Online. “Lindsay has abandoned her friends and her sober community. She stopped responding to our texts and calls and is basically ignoring everyone now. She’s getting the texts because they show up as read. She’s just not answering,” a source complains. “Some of these people have been friends with her for more than a decade. There is nothing anyone can do until she answers.”

Ian Somerhalder’s charity under the financial microscope

“Vampire Diaries” star Ian Somerhalder may not be as charitable as he comes off, if recently uncovered tax documents for his conservation charity are any indication. The Ian Somerhalder Foundation apparently works to “promote the conservation of natural resources” and “provide relief to the poor, distressed or underprivileged,” but it must not be working very hard. In 2012, the Foundation took in $365,000 in donations while paying out only one grant — for $550 — to the Best Friends Animal Society and Wildlife Rehab, according to TMZ. So how were the rest of the donations used? Nearly $21,000 went to office expenses and rent, travel accounted for $20,000 and almost $153,000 was lumped together under “other expenses.” Records for 2013 show an income of $504,000 with no grants at all paid out.
