Here are your best bets onstage this week if you want to escape the same-old, same-old or catch a closing play before it’s gone.

OPENING

‘Romeo and Juliet’

The new Broadway production of “Romeo and Juliet” begins opens this Thursday at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, starring Orlando Bloom and Condola Rashad. In this production, race defines the family lineages of the young lovers. William Shakespeare’s classic is directed by five-time Tony Award nominee David Leveaux. Tickets are on sale at www.romeoandjulietbroadway.com.

‘Women or Nothing’

Filmmaker and playwright Ethan Coen’s first full-length production opens at the Atlantic Theater Company tomorrow. Ethan Coen is half of the brother screenwriting duo who penned “Fargo,” “The Big Lebowski” and “There Will Be Blood.” David Cromer (“Our Town”) directs this new show, a comedy about two gay women so desperate to have a child that one of them will even sleep with a man. Tickets are on sale at www.atlantictheater.org.

CLOSING

‘The Cheaters Club’

It’s your last chance to see “The Cheaters Club,” written and directed by Derek Ahonen. This show, closing Saturday, is about a group of friends who get out of town once a year to exorcise their sexual demons. Tickets are on sale at www.abronsartscenter.org.
