It’s hard to believe that it was a year ago this month that Hurricane Sandy wreaked havoc on the East Coast. Relief efforts aren’t over — many hard-hit areas are still cleaning up the mess that the superstorm left behind. You can pitch in to help those who still need it in the following easy ways:

The Rockaways were one of the hardest hit areas of the storm, and the Rockaway Rescue Alliance’s Shore Soup Project was founded in its wake to help. Since the hurricane, the not-for-profit has served more than 50,000 organic meals to displaced Rockaway residents. The Shore Soup Benefit, taking place Wednesday, Oct. 23 at the Bowery Hotel, will support SHORE, a permanent restaurant set to open in the Rockaways in 2014. SHORE will offer organic food, a garden, a workshop and job opportunities. Tickets to the benefit are $85 in advance here.

Now through Oct. 31, fast-casual Mexican joint Tres Carnes will donate a portion from October’s burrito proceeds to Friends of the Rockaway, which also works to rebuild the devastated area. If you Twitter, Facebook or Instagram your burrito with the hashtag #BuildWithBurritos and tag @TresCarnes, you’ll get a free limeade.

Funbars — which has Hudson Terrace, The Village Pourhouse, SideBar and Little Town New York in its roster — will give a portion of sales from its Rockaway Sunrise vodka drink also to Friends of the Rockaway.

Crave Fish Bar has created the Dark & Sandy cocktail — Kraken Black Spiced Rum, Sombra Mezcal, smoked ginger syrup and fresh lime — with all proceeds going to Occupy Sandy, the grassroots relief effort.

And on Wednesday, Oct. 30, Benjamin Steakhouse will donate 5 percent of its sales to the American Red Cross. This is the second year that the restaurant is donating a portion of sales to Sandy recovery efforts.
