Celebrating its third year, The Tri State Indie Music Awards features a variety of music not featured in the mainstream music world. Categories such as Indie Rock Band of the Year and New Music Venue of the year are voted on by fans online. This is a show not to be missed, featuring The Black Angels, whos influences include Joy division and The Velvet Underground. Headlining at Union Transfer is Austin, Texas legendary rock and roll pioneer, Roky Erickson. Erickson has been labeled one by many to be an unsung hero in rock music. Artists of the 60’s such as Janis Joplin to new school noise pioneers Sonic Youth cite Erickson as an influence.
