Zooey Deschanel doesn’t want her photo taken at concerts

This past Saturday I was in Central Park to catch the She & Him concert as part of the SummerStage series.

When Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward took the stage around 8 p.m., I, like many around me, pulled out my iPhone to snap a quick photo of the band.

That’s when I felt a tap on my shoulder from a man in a ‘STAFF’ t-shirt asking me to put my phone away as photos and videos were prohibited. The man made his rounds to many more concertgoers with their arms extended high in the air attempting to snap a photo of the “New Girl” star.

The staff of the concert definitely lost that battle. With hundreds, if not thousands, of people in Central Park, there’s no way they could reach everyone. I left with about a dozen photos on my phone.

It turns out the ‘adorkable’ Deschanel doesn’t want her photo taken while she sings.

Entertainment writer Jonathan Dekel said he spoke with the band’s manager and was told “Zooey doesn’t want to see phones.”

“Now venue staff is informing people that if they dare take photos of a woman whose entire job it is to be on camera they will be kicked out,” Dekel tweeted.

According to reports five pre-screened photographers were given permission to take photos and publish them in established publications.

It’s a shame Deschanel did not want people taking videos, either. Her voice is unbelievable. Work it, girlfriend.

We were able to sneak some photos past the security guards. They’re not great. They’re actually pretty blurry. In any case, though, enjoy the few photos we took.
