Zosia Mamet: ‘I’ve struggled with an eating disorder’
“Girls” star Zosia Mamet opens up about her private struggle with anorexia in the September issue of Glamour magazine. “I’ve struggled with an eating disorder since I was a child,” she writes in her monthly column, “My Zo-Called Life.” “This struggle has mostly been a private one, a war nobody knew was inside me. I tried to fight it alone for a long time. I nearly died.”
Mamet goes on to encourage women not to look in the mirror and attack what they see, or to feel bad about eating a second cupcake. She also warns against a culture that honors both borderline obsessive self-control and skinniness. Despite all the talk Lena Dunham has sparked about body image, Mamet has chosen to be mum on the topic until now.
