VIDEO: Watch Wes Anderson’s new short film ‘Castello Cavalcanti’
Wes Anderson fans will be delighted to see the director’s new short film on YouTube. “Castello Cavalcanti” debuted today on Prada’s YouTube channel and stars Wes Anderson favorite Jason Schwartzman. It also features Anderson’s signature color palette and fast-paced, quirky dialogue. The film, which runs about eight minutes, features Schwartzman as a race car driver who totals his little red sports car in a village in Italy in 1955. Schwartzman asks the villagers where he is, and much to his surprise, he discovers he is in Castello Cavalcanti, his ancestral home. He sits for a game of cards with the locals and even meets his great-great-granduncle Michelangelo and gives him a big kiss. Schwartzman is so charmed he decides to stay a bit longer.
Prada’s sponsorship is subtle but evidenced by sharp suits and Schwartzman’s bright yellow racing uniform. That’s where our suspension of disbelief is really tested – we’re not sure Prada would ever make that race suit.
Anderson’s upcoming feature-length film, “The Grand Budapest Hotel,” is slated to hit theaters in March 2014.
