TV Watch List: Thursday, Oct. 3

A Latino teen knocks up his white girlfriend and their disapproving families have to learn to get along in “Welcome to the Family.”

Metro’s Thursday night TV breakdown.

‘The Vampire Diaries’
DRAMA. Are vampires still in? It would seem so, since this show about sexy vamps living in suburbia is still going strong. In the fifth season opener two of the sexiest, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena (Nina Dobrev), have finally gotten together.
Season Premiere, 8 p.m., CW

‘The Millers’
COMEDY. The premise of this new situational comedy sounds a whole lot like the premise of what’s turning out to be a steaming pile of TV turd, “Dads.” Except in this version, it’s an overbearing mother who moves in with her recently divorced son after his dad follows his lead and dumps her. The son here is played by Will Arnett, however, so that’s a promising start.
Series Premiere, 8:30 p.m., CBS

‘Welcome to the Family’
COMEDY. This is sort of like a modern version of “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner,” except updated to include — what else? — a pregnant teen. A Latino teen knocks up his white girlfriend and their disapproving families have to learn to get along. Sounds… funny?
Series Premiere, 8:30 p.m., NBC

‘Sean Saves the World’
COMEDY. Yet another new show about a dad — dads are so hot right now — this one stars Sean Hayes (“Will & Grace”) as a gay single dad struggling to raise a 14-year-old daughter. Hijinx surely ensue.
Series Premiere, 9 p.m., NBC
