Who took their moms to the Oscars?
Mom is always the best date for a drama-free evening. This year, several stars brought their mothers to the Oscars in lieu of a date. Here are the stars who took their parents to work on Sunday.
Leonardo DiCaprio: This notorious modelizer and playboy is supposedly dating 21-year-old Toni Garrn. Things were serious enough for him to take her out on Valentine’s Day, but apparently Garrn still does not get a seat at the Oscars. Instead, DiCaprio brought mother Irmelin Indenbirken, who looks great for her age. We see where Leo got those baby blues.
Jonah Hill: Hill’s mother, Sharon Lyn Chalkin, is no stranger to awards shows. Hill took her to the Oscars in 2012 as well. Chalkin is a good sport: She laughed along when Ellen DeGeneres pointed out that she had seen Hill’s junk on the big screen.
Jared Leto: Not only did Jared Leto bring his mother Constance to the Oscars, he devoted his Best Supporting Actor award to her. He said, “In 1971, in Bossier City, Louisiana, there was a teenage girl who was pregnant with her second child. She was a high school dropout and a single mom, but somehow she managed to make a better life for herself and her children. She encouraged her kids to be creative and work hard and do something special. That girl was my mother and she’s here tonight. I just want to say, ‘I love you, mom, thank you for teaching me to dream.’” Swoon.
Bruce Dern: Best Actor nominee Dern did not bring his mother to the Oscars, but he did bring daughter Laura Dern along with his wife Andrea Beckett. As DeGeneres pointed out, Dern has quite a pedigree, with Eleanor Roosevelt as a godmother, and his daughter Laura is sure to carry on the family torch.
