The Word: Nikolaj Coster-Waldau on Jaime and Cersei’s “Game of Thrones” reunion

In a world of intrigue and civil war, “Game of Thrones” family relations are always complicated – and none more so than the Lannisters’. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays Jaime Lannister, can’t wait to explore that mess of incest, scheming, and sociopathy in season 4, now that Jaime is back in the bosom of his family. “This is the first time we’re going to have the Lannisters together — [Tywin] with his kids,” he said. “I can’t wait to explore that. I hope to have a moment, a scene with the King, Joffrey,” he told the LA Times.

Joffrey, of course, is both Jaime’s nephew and his son, by his twin sister Cersei. Nikolaj says Jaime and Cersei’s reunion will be complex. “They’ve both missed each other, they see each other and then [they realize], ‘Here we are, oh.’ A lot of things have happened…. It’s a closure for that journey.”

Aww, does that mean Jaime and Cersei’s love will die? I’m fine with that, actually. They’re gross.

George R.R. Martin, author of the “Game of Thrones” books, knows how freaked out you were by last week’s red wedding massacre. And he loves it.

“I want my readers to be afraid,” he told Conan O’Brien. “I want them to be afraid to turn the next page because the character may not survive it.”

Well. Mission very freaking accomplished, George, you sadistic genius.
