The Word: Jay-Z’s new album comes out July 4
In a surprise move last night, Jay-Z announced during the NBA finals game that his next album will drop on July 4. It will be called “Magna Carta Holy Grail.”
“The album is about, like this duality of how do you navigate through this whole thing — through success, through failures, through all this — and remain yourself,” Jay-Z says in a three-minute commercial.
“We don’t have any rules. The Internet’s like the wild, wild West,” he says. “We need to write the new rules.”
Sounds good to me. I personally would love it if Jay-Z was in charge of the internet instead of, say, the NSA. Although maybe if your album comes out on the Fourth of July, you shouldn’t name it after a bunch of British stuff. Don’t get a big head about this, Redcoats.
The album will also be available for free on June 24 for owners of Samsung Galaxy phones.
