The Word: Kristin Chenoweth sings about Anthony Weiner
Noted sexter and occasional politician Anthony Weiner has been told by pretty much everyone at this point to keep it in his pants, but he doesn’t seem inclined to listen. Maybe we just hadn’t found the right way to reach him. Maybe he needed to be scolded in song.
Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth is on the job. She appeared on “The Tonight Show” last night to sing a parody of “Popular” from “Wicked,” in which she exhorts Weiner to cool it. “No more sexy texts with your biceps flexed, your roaming eye will roam no more,” she sings. “You wanna be the mayor, stop acting like a big ol’ whore.”
There’s more of the song after that, but that’s pretty much the bottom line.
Anthony Weiner’s embattled campaign took another hit late Tuesday evening when a Talking Points Memo story relayed an expletive-laden rant by Weiner spokeswoman Barbara Morgan.
In a conversation on an unrelated topic, Morgan reportedly lashed out at a former campaign intern, Olivia Nuzzi, who penned a tell-all piece in Tuesday’s New York Daily News in which she referenced Morgan’s professional experience condescendingly and recounted an incident in which Weiner reportedly called multiple staffers “Monica” after insisting he could remember all of their names.
