All summer, I’ve been casually dropping Ariana Grande’s name into conversation.

My friends generally do not know who I am talking about, because they are adults and nerds. That’s OK. When Ariana becomes super famous, which is where she has clearly been heading, I will look super in the know.

And it’s about to happen. This week her album, “Yours Truly,” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 200 chart, the first debut album by a female vocalist to top the chart in more than three years. Unfortunately, the young Nickelodeon star has to celebrate in complete silence, since she just ruptured a vocal cord.

Ariana is under doctor’s orders to rest and avoid using her voice so her injury can heal, according to E! News. “First day off in forever… Vocal rest and watching movies in with my best friend @alexaluria dunno what I’d do without her,” she tweeted.

I hope Ariana feels better soon! For my sake. I want my friends to think I’m a pop culture prophet.

Ariana, who starred in Nickelodeon’s “Victorious” from 2010 to 2013, says that life as a teen Nick star isn’t all green slime and glamour. In fact, one of her costars was so unkind that she made Ariana miserable.

“I worked with someone who told me they’d never like me,” Ariana told Seventeen. “But for some reason, I just felt like I needed her approval. So I started changing myself to please her. It made me stop being social and friendly. I was so unhappy.”
