The Word: Bicycling paparazzo hits Nicole Kidman

Nicole Kidman is very tall. She has red hair. She has an Australian accent, so that’s pretty distinctive. Oh, and she’s one of the biggest movie stars in the world.

She’s hard to miss, is what I’m saying, so there’s really no excuse for running her down with a bicycle on the streets of Manhattan. But that’s just the tragedy that befell her yesterday.

Don’t worry, she’s fine and will live to not talk about Tom Cruise another day. But she’s reportedly furious over the incident, which took place outside the Carlyle Hotel, where Kidman is staying for Fashion Week. Paparazzo Carl Wu came riding up on his bike to get a photo, and apparently lost control of his bike and knocked her over, according to TMZ.

Kidman wants to press charges, but unfortunately, aside from the ticket for riding on the sidewalk that the police dealt Wu, there aren’t really any charges to press. If New York had a law on the books against being an aggressive jerk, we’d all be in jail.
