The Word: Jon Hamm and Amy Poehler hosted an Emmy losers party

Jon Hamm lost out on the lead actor Emmy to Jeff Daniels of “The Newsroom.”

Amy Poehler and Jon Hamm hosted what must have been the coolest party ever after Sunday’s Emmy Awards. And all you had to do to get in was not win an Emmy.

OK, that’s not all you had to do. Probably you also had to be their friend or something. Still, partying with “Mad Men”‘s Don Draper and the star of “Parks and Recreation” must have taken the sting out of their Emmy non-wins for stars like Aubrey Plaza, Elisabeth Moss and Zooey Deschanel.

The party was such a hot destination that the guest list even included winners, like Tina Fey, who won for Best Writing for “30 Rock” — but unlike losers, who got in for free, winners had to make a $1,000 donation to World Wide Orphans, according to E! Online. Aww, poor winners. Don’t worry, guys, I’m sure you’ll lose next year.

The biggest upset at Sunday’s Emmys was Kerry Washington. Diahann Carroll, the first African American nominated for an Emmy (for “Naked City” back in 1963), came out to set up the “Scandal” star as the first African-American winner of a Lead Performance Emmy. But the Emmys went with Claire Danes for “Homeland.” Read Metro’s full Emmys recap.
