The Word: Justin Bieber’s graffiti is all legal, he says

Justin Bieber’s questionable graffiti is, at least, legal, he claims.

Justin Bieber has made a number of questionable decisions since arriving in Brazil: Hanging out at a brothel, tagging various buildings, letting some girl film him sleeping. But the tagging, at least, he can explain.

JB posted a number of pictures of his spray art on his Instagram. In the caption for one of them, he claims he had permission to tag everywhere he did. “Every place I have tagged has been approved I do not suggest tagging private property.. I still suck but i have fun doing it ;)” he captioned the above pic.

He may not be out of hot water yet, though. Some observers say that Bieber’s monkey painting, crowned and bowtied though it is, is racist – it bears a resemblance to old-fashioned caricatures of African-Americans. Oh boy. This is about to be awful. All in favor of going back to sleep until Bieber leaves Brazil, say “aye.”

The Canadian pop star posted several photos to Instagram of himself engaged in his “new hobby,” spraying city walls with crude cartoons and messages. On one wall, he’s seen writing, “R.I.P. Pac,” though it’s unclear if he’s honoring Tupac Shakur or his recently deceased hamster, which he named after the late rapper — or both.
