William H. Macy bashes One Direction

one-direction-5
William H. Macy does not like any of these fellas.

William H. Macy is a beloved thespian, husband to Felicity Huffman and generally seems like a Hollywood mensch. However, he’s also the father to two tween daughters, and his good nature has its limits: Like dads everywhere, One Direction drives him up the freaking wall.

The “Shameless” star visited “Live with Kelly and Michael,” where he revealed his distaste for the boy band. “[My 13-year-old] Sophia is crazy about One Direction, and she has this life-sized cutout of Harry Styles in her room,” he said. “It scares the crap out of me.”

A recent concert did little to change his opinion. ”I’ve been in showbiz all my life,” he said, “So, let me just say, those guys can sing. They’re very talented. They couldn’t put on a good show with a gun to their head.”

He didn’t care for their choreography (marching back and forth), their costumes (several different sets of jeans and T-shirts) or their showmanship (Styles ate a sandwich onstage.)

“I mean, call me old-fashioned, but when I’m downstage singing my heart out, you better not eat a sandwich behind me,” Macy said.

Pah! I’d like to see William H. Macy do better. No, really, I would very much like to see that. If I could watch a boy band consisting of five William H. Macys, I’m not sure I would need anything else from life.

And by the way, WHM, count your blessings that you were at a show where the audience saw a sandwich going into Harry Styles, not coming out.
