GRAPHIC ADVOCACY: INTERNATIONAL POSTERS FOR THE DIGITAL AGE, 2001-2012-  Group Exhibition at Pratt Manhattan Gallery that Explores Advocacy through Design

A compelling traveling exhibition of 118 socially, environmentally, and politically-motivated print posters by an international cadre of artists and designers is coming to Pratt Manhattan Gallery <http://www.pratt.edu/about_pratt/exhibitions/pratt_manhattan_gallery/>  (opening 7/8). The exhibition, titled Graphic Advocacy: International Posters for the Digital Age, 2001-2012 <http://graphicadvocacyposters.org/> , demonstrates the potency of the art form as a catalyst for social and political change using bold and subtle messaging and striking iconography. In addition to exploring sociopolitical poster design, Graphic Advocacy highlights the Internet’s role in exponentially expanding the channels of communication beyond the printed page through electronic distribution. The exhibition covers topics including 9/11, Occupy Wall Street, Hurricane Katrina, the Japan Earthquake/Fukushima Nuclear Disaster, and Environment/Global Warming.

Gallery Hours: Monday-Saturday, 11 AM-6 PM; Thursdays, 11 AM-8 PM
Closing Reception: Wednesday, August 28 from 6-8 PM
