National Constitution Center Memorial Day

CC Mem Day

Skip the shore traffic and take the family to The National Constitution Center Memorial Day Weekend.

Originally known as Decoration Day, an occasion to honor soldiers who gave their lives during the American Civil War, the Memorial Day civic holiday now honors all members of the military who have given their lives in defense of the Constitution and its legacy of freedom. During Memorial Day weekend, the National Constitution Center will pay tribute to those brave men and women by exploring how Americans honor our military heroes. The American flag will be raised each morning during a special ceremony at the Center; guests are invited to join in to learn proper flag-raising protocol.  During the special program “Memorials: How a Nation Remembers,” visitors will learn about monuments across the country, including Little Bighorn, the U.S.S. Arizona, and the Lincoln Memorial. As the home of Pennsylvania’s Liberty Tree, the Center will honor its “birthday” with the compelling story of this living memorial. Visitors can sing their favorite American anthems during “Patriotic Karaoke”; create memorial poppy pins, American flags, and American star memorial wreaths; and write letters to soldiers stationed overseas.
