World Blood Donor Day

This Friday, June 14, join Nexcare give, The American Red Cross and America’s Blood Centers to celebrate the 10th anniversary of World Blood Donor Day! Did you know that blood shortages occur most frequently during the summer months?  During the summer months blood donations drop significantly and yet the need does not in fact, every 2 seconds someone in America needs blood and with no substitution for human blood those in need rely on the kindness of volunteers. All this week those who donate blood at participating blood donation centers will receive free Nexcare bandages marked with the word “give” and which can be worn as a badge of honor and a sign of support. These limited-edition bandages are also available for free at www.nexcaregive.com.

WORLD BLOOD DONOR DAY IS JUNE 14  – PLATELETS AND WHOLE BLOOD NEEDED IN YOUR REGION TO AVOID “SUMMER SHORTAGES”

Nexcare give Program in partnership with the Red Cross and America’s Blood Centers is asking all eligible blood donors to come out this weekend and “give”
•         Every 2 seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood.
•         Donating blood can help save up to three lives.
•         44,000 blood donations must be collected each and every day to meet patient needs.

Visit Nexcaregive.com to find a local blood center and pledge your support for this cause.

Summer is always a challenging time for blood centers and the hospitals they serve, as vacation schedules and severe weather impact regular donation schedules and lead to what is known as “summer shortages.” Whole blood in every blood type is needed this summer to meet the constant patient need.

The country is also currently facing an overwhelming need for platelet donations. Platelets are used to support patients going through cancer treatments and premature babies. Platelets are unique in that they only have a shelf life of 7 days so constant, consistent donations are required. Donations have fallen so low in the past several weeks that patient care is beginning to be impacted.

Get free, limited-edition Nexcare give Bandages at local blood centers throughout the weekend, and show off your life-saving blood donation to others!
