Officials indicted nine people for an alleged ring operating millions of dollars worth of Colombian heroin in New York City, prosecutors announced today.

The Special Narcotics Prosecutor’s Office announced that the alleged kingpin, Cruz Aguaviva-Done, was charged with operating as a major trafficker.

Agents seized more than 17 pounds of heroin throughout the nine-month investigation, they said.

Prosecutors accuse Aguaviva-Done of running an international heroin trafficking operation from his Bronx home.

They said he ordered the heroin through a point person called “the artist” and organized money transfers, shipments and reselling of the drugs.

Prosecutors say one of the places they picked up the drugs was a furniture store, where $180,000 worth of heroin was hidden in an ottoman.

Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget Brennan said investigators have found “South American heroin flooding our streets.”
