A Bronx man who had posted a sign on his lawn warning “Keep your dog off the grass” has confessed to fatally shooting his neighbor’s dog, the Daily News reports.

Donald Savino, 73, told police he only intended to frighten his neighbor’s nine-pound Maltese, Spike, when he fired two pellets from an air rifle at the dog on Tuesday evening.

“OK, I did it,” Savino said, according to court documents. “I didn’t mean to kill the dog. I just wanted to shoot it in the butt and scare him.”

Spike’s owner Marco Lopez said he, his wife and their three children were horrified by the violent death of their dog, who was eight years old. The family brought home a poodle puppy on Saturday.

A man walking his dog discovered a dead body in Forest Park in Queens on Sunday morning.

Police arrived at the park just before noon on Sunday when they met the dog-walker who said his dog came upon the body of an unconscious man.

The body was found along the south edge of the park, near Freedom Drive and Park South Drive, wearing blue jeans and brown boots. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Identification has not been released and the investigation is ongoing.

Remember the East Village pit-bull that was shot by a police officer after his owner collapsed last August?

The dog, Star, is finally up for adoption.

Star has spent the last few months in Pennsylvania recovering from the incident. Now, the National Greyhound Adoption Program has posted her adoption profile on its website.

Star’s name, though, has now been changed to Shiloh. The Local East Village reports that the name change could be a reference to the children’s novel about a dog that is rescued from violence.

According to the National Greyhound Adoption Program, the pit-bull recovered her “wonderful disposition” and her health has improved “significantly.” However, many of her sense are still hindered due to her injuries. For example, she has “significant vision loss in her right eye,” but she can see up to 15 feet away. She also lost her left eye completely in surgery

Troubled country star Mindy McCready has reportedly committed suicide at her home in Heber Springs, Ark.

Andrea Canning, a reporter with NBC Dateline, tweeted, “Just got a call from Mindy McCready’s best friend that she shot and killed herself this evening. My heart breaks for her two boys. RIP”

A source told E! news that neighbors heard gunshots at her house and called the police. “She shot herself and the dog,” the source said.

McCready, who sold over three million albums during her heyday in the 90s,  has now mainly been known for her personal troubles. A little over a month ago, her boyfriend, the record producer David Wilson, died from a gunshot wound; although his death was ruled a suicide, the investigation is still open. McCready’s two children, Zander, 6, and Zayne, 9-months-old, were then taken from the singer’s home by authorities.

McCready, who appeared on “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew” in 2010 had attempted suicide twice before, in 2005 and 2008.
