The Cannes Film Festival ends this Sunday. So how is it looking at the halfway mark? That is, apart from the non-film stuff: the guy who fired a starter pistol, and not one but two jewelry robberies. (You might — might! — recall Brian De Palma’s “Femme Fatale” opened with a Cannes Film Festival jewel heist.) But let’s talk movies.

“The Bling Ring” is apparently very Sofia Coppola-y. No one makes movies like Sofia Coppola, which to some is a good thing because that means the world has less like them. Her latest again wallows among the pampered, wealthy and shallow, only this time the leads (led by Emma Watson) are those who steal from them. Reviews have been the usual for this polarizing filmmaker, with some finding the film as dumb as its heroes and others finding it an embodiment of materialism in the age of Twitter. Although Paris Hilton, who plays herself, loved it.

Everyone loves “Inside Llewyn Davis.” The Coen Brothers’ latest — about an unpleasant 1960s folk singer (Oscar Isaac), whose name we’ll one day not accidentally spell as “Llewellyn” — is being received as one of their scruffy triumphs. Comparisons to “The Big Lebowski” abound, and the up-and-comer Isaac — in a cast with Carey Mulligan, Justin Timberlake and John Goodman — is supposed to be made a star. And that’s great, as it won’t be released in America for another half a year.

But everyone REALLY loves ‘The Past.’ Asghar Farhadi scored an Oscar and a bona fide art-house hit with “A Separation” in 2011. His second film — also about a divorce, this one with an international cast that includes “The Artist”’s Berenice Bejo — is being heralded as about as absurdly strong, which should make Farhadi the biggest Iranian filmmaker since Abbas Kiarostami. Again, you’re probably going to have to wait till winter to see this.

Alejandro Jodorowsky is actually back. The Chilean-born crazy was once one of the original midnight movie kings, thanks to his 1970 gonzo acid western “El Topo.” His career since has been bumpy. But this year the 84-year-old rules Cannes. A documentary about his aborted film of “Dune” — which was to feature Orson Welles and Salvador Dali and a score by Pink Floyd — is there. Ditto an actual, new Jodorowsky film, his first since 1991’s (pretty terrible) “The Rainbow Thief.” “The Dance of Reality” is being called overlong, but also warm and, best of all, teeming with ideas and wild images.

Keanu Reeves and James Franco direct! Franco has been a rather prolific auteur of late, but his eighth film (!!) is for some reason an adaptation of William Faulkner’s unadaptable “As I Lay Dying.” Some are even being nice to it. Meanwhile, Keanu Reeves made a kung fu movie. It’s called “Man of Tai Chi” — insert “Matrix” joke here.

Still to debut (or at least to get reviews): Nicolas Winding Refn’s “Only God Forgives,” with The Gosling; Jim Jarmusch’s vampire film “Only Lovers Left Alive;” and James Gray’s “The Immigrant,” with Joaquin Phoenix and Marion Cotillard.

Arguably the biggest tour of the summer, it remains to be seen how Jay-Z and JT will split the stage on The 20/20 World Tour. We can only hope that there are 20 songs from each artist, rather than a staged recreation of the best moments of ABC’s most popular investigative journalism TV show. That said, it would be awesome if they did that for the first few shows and then switched it up by the time they got here.

Americanarama Festival of Music
For a genre that takes itself a little too seriously when at its worst, these three giants of Americana prove that a sense of humor is necessary to separate the wheat from the chaff. By calling their tour Americanarama, Bob Dylan, Wilco and My Morning Jacket are having a good ole time.

Who would have thought at this time last year that the Justin Bieber tour would become the equivalent of the Rolling Stones’ 1972 tour in terms of rumored debauchery? We can only hope he’s still around for his own 50 and Counting tour in 2060.

Beyonce was going to release a new album this year. Remember that? Seems like she might not have remembered either, as Mrs. Carter sets out on the Mrs. Carter Show World Tour before her new songs have even hit the market. It’s kind of like when it’s the end of the school year, and absolutely all of your friends are psyched to be done with exams, but you’ve still got one left that you totally forgot to study for. But in this case, Beyonce can just say, “I’m Beyonce, I don’t have to take the final.”

Think about Justin Timberlake’s position in popular culture right now. Dude is absolutely everywhere. He’s what they call in da biz, a classic triple-threat (he sings, dances and acts). Heck, the dude could probably be a octuple threat if he wanted to be (writing, painting, sculpting, trapeze, Grand Canyon-jumping).

But it’s hard to remember that once upon a time, JT was only a double-threat, singing and dancing with N’Sync. Yes, there was a time when he wasn’t so unabashedly accepted by every breathing human on the planet.

Before he hosted “Saturday Night Live” for the first time a decade ago, most people just knew him as the dude from that boy band who was the only person to be able to say he had gotten busy with Britney Spears.

Sure, he had a few awesome solo singles by that time, but it wasn’t until the “SNL” appearance in October of 2003 that he began to achieve universal acceptance and the world learned just how funny he was.

But by the time he did “SNL,” JT had already started popping up in strange places, and we think we’ve located the first, in this odd, forgotten clip from the summer of 2003, where he sat in with the Flaming Lips on the British TV show, “Top of the Pops.”

He took off a giant dolphin mask before the performance and happily filled in the bottom end and sang along as Wayne Coyne sang about Yoshimi battling pink robots.

From then on, when he sang, “Don’t be so quick to walk away,” we made sure we stuck around.

As SXSW comes to a close, the crowded streets of Austin will return to a more relaxed status quo. But the musical party that began here last Tuesday will keep on rippling outward to the world for the next few months as thousands of press outlets report on which acts wowed them.

Metro’s published a list of “must see” acts last week was spot-on, if I do say so myself. Nick Cave put on an epic performance in an out-of-character venue. Thurston Moore’s Chelsea Light Moving played their most intriguing gig with skateboarders riding a half-pipe in the background. King Tuff proved he’s even tougher live than on record, while Jim James took people by surprise with his new direction.

After seeing close to 100 bands, there are a few notable acts that I was especially happy to have caught.

Our award for The Best New Foreign Act goes to the band Indians. Music emanating from the mind of Copenhagen’s Søren Løkke Juul, he admits he only had three songs to his name before he signed to 4AD last year. “I never even thought about making a record,” he said after one show. “I just made songs because I felt like I needed to express something.” Playing eight shows in five days, Juul performed with a band this time, filling in his somber synth songs with shimmering atmospherics and heavy-handed electronic drums.

The Most Energetic Show was delivered by Pangea at a club called the Volstead. Talk about surprises — Pangea wasn’t even on the schedule. Somehow word must have gotten out because the small room was packed and pleased. Playing a set somewhere in between punk and metal, they varied speeds, but always remained heavy. The drummer hit so hard it didn’t seem like the skins could sustain the beating. The crowd followed along with the passionate performance by moshing and crowdsurfing. At one point, the speakers almost fell over. I’m pretty sure that’s not supposed to happen anymore. But it did. And it was special — but is not for the faint of heart.

The Best Overall New Band is Wildcat! Wildcat!. I had a feeling about them based on the name alone. And wandering into one of their many shows, I was totally taken. A four-piece, each with a mic, two keyboardists, bass and drums, the band lies somewhere between rock and electro. Their four-part vocal falsetto harmonies make them stand out and add warmth to their summery sound. While the band has known each other since they were kids and each have played music together before, I was intrigued to learn the band only began last year and have only released two songs. One of the hardest working bands at the festival, they played 10 shows in five days and seemed to be having more fun than any other band I saw. Oh, and they covered the Tears for Fears song “Everybody Wants to Rule the World.” Everybody does, but these guys just might get to.

#Informationoverload @SXSW
Long gone are the days of walking the streets of Austin with a printed schedule and a highlighter. In an atmosphere that is already all about sensory overload, technology ruled SXSW this year. Parties were announced via Twitter, there was an app for schedules and oftentimes when you got to the shows most of the audience members had their heads down to text or tweet. Also, if you didn’t have a platinum badge, the only way to get into the Prince show, was to have a Samsung Galaxy phone and complete a scavenger hunt.

Prince was not the only mega star to get Austin buzzing. Green Day, Justin Timberlake, Stevie Nicks and Dave Grohl also took part in the action, playing exclusive shows held in venues way smaller than they are used to playing.

Every year, thousands of musicians, record labels, fans and publicists from all ends of the earth make their way to Austin, Texas for the five-day sonic soiree and sensory overload known as South by Southwest, which for the rest of the week, you’ll see referred to as SXSW.
For the uninitiated, SXSW is, in theory, where bands go to make it, labels go to show off their talent and the rest of the industry goes to latch onto untouched potential. As for me, I’m there to take it all in, write it all down and tell you all about it. While there’s no possible way to see every act, here are a few I’m looking forward to.

Chelsea Light Moving
The band’s name may seem esoteric, but their leader is one of rock’s greatest guitarists. With Sonic Youth on indefinite hiatus, Thurston Moore’s latest outfit is far from the delicate stylings of his recent solo records. CLM combine Sonic Youth’s atmospheric guitar sounds with artistic abrasions most similar to Moore’s 1995 “Psychic Hearts” record. On CLM’s self-titled debut, released last week, Moore possesses a newfound angst and seems angrier than ever.

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
Ten years ago, Nick Cave may have seemed a bit out of place at SXSW. But after scoring three westerns, and providing the musc and a screenplay to the Southern bootlegging movie, “Lawless,” he now seems to embody the ideal of the dusty American outlaw (despite being from Australia and the U.K.). While his recent release seems more like a solo record than a Bad Seeds endeavor, his commanding presence in live shows is as powerful as a fire and brimstone preacher. SXSW is the first of his 20 sold out North American dates and one of the hottest tickets in town.

Generationals
An electro pop duo from New Orleans, Generationals combine guitar and electronics to create blissful textures and melodic hooks that overpower the inherent melancholia that lingers in the backdrop. Playing seven shows in four days at SXSW, the band will preview their third and best full-length, “Heza,” due out in April.

King Tuff
While the name may suggest some Studio One dub producer, only the weed smoke links Tuff with Jamaican styles. The pride of Brattleboro, Vermont and one of Sub Pop’s latest acquisitions, KT’s music is more akin to the haunting acoustic psych sound of Girls, but with a grunge-y energy.

Skaters
NYC by way of Boston and England, Skaters will be one of the newest and busiest bands in Austin. Consisting of members of Dead Trees and Dirty Pretty Things, Skaters are one of Warner Brothers’ hopes for a youthful rock ‘n’ roll revival. They’re headed straight from the studio after wrapping up their debut LP, slated for early summer release. There’s already a buzz around them, based on their free EP, and extensive European and U.S. tours are already booked for spring. Expect infectious guitar ballads that make you move, but also make you think.

Prince
Wait, what? Yes! In the past few years SXSW has become about established superstars staging their comeback into the public consciousness as much as it is about undiscovered talents. Now that Justin Timberlake has been co-opting Prince’s big band setup of the “Diamonds and Pearls” era, it’s time for his Royal Purpleness to show JT how it’s really done. Prince will reportedly stage an as yet not totally confirmed club show with a 22-piece band during the festival.

Update: Justin Timberlake appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and addressed the Kanye West controversy … sort of.

Fallon pointed out that that Timberlake changed the lyrics of “Suit & Tie” during his Saturday Night Live performance. Timberlake responded “Did it seem that way? … Did I change a line? It is live. You know, really, everyone, keep calm.”

“Keep calm and Kanye on,” Fallon swiftly responded.

There are no hard feelings on Timberlake’s side as he announced his admiration for the rapper.

“Let me just, for the record … I absolutely love Kanye. So there’s that. We love Kanye, right?” Timberlake asked the audience.

So there’s that indeed, readers. The feud between the two stars seems to be water under the bridge … for now, at least.

Everyone wants to be Jay-Z’s best friend. Even mega-stars Kanye West and Justin Timberlake are feuding over who is Mr. Carter’s bestie.

It all started a few weeks ago when Kanye went on a rant about how “he got love for Hov, but he ain’t fucking with that ‘Suit and Tie.’”

We all knew it was a matter of time before Timberlake responded. In true JT fashion, though, he took the classy, high-road approach.

Midway through his performance of “Suit and Tie” on Saturday Night Live, Timberlake changed the line “shit so sick got a hit and picked up a habit” to “my hit’s so sick got rappers acting dramatic.”

And then Jay-Z appeared on stage, so it’s safe to assume who won this feud.

For those of you wanting to hear it for yourself, the dis comes at approximately the 2:15 mark of the video.

On the topic of Justin Timberlake, he killed it on SNL. His skits were funny and his performances of “Suit and Tie” and “Mirrors” were the best ones so far.

Rapper Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake are teaming up for a 12-city summer stadium tour that will include concerts in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago, music promoter Live Nation said on Friday.

The “Legends of the Summer” tour will kick off at the Roger’s Center in Toronto on July 17, and finish on August 16 at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami.

Venues in Boston, Detroit and Baltimore will also be included in the tour.

Earlier this week Live Nation said the duo, who together have won 23 Grammy awards and two Emmys and have sold 67 million albums, will also be performing together in London at the Wireless Festival on July 12-13.

Timberlake’s new album, “The 20/20 Experience,” which will be released next month, features “Suit & Tie,” a collaboration with Jay-Z. The two performed a duet together at the Grammy Awards earlier this month.

Stop whatever you’re doing and try to wrap your mind around this: Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z are uniting on stage.

The New York Post is reporting that the two mega-stars will share the stage in an upcoming tour. The Post reports they’ll do ten dates. Rolling Stone magazine is reporting eleven to thirteen shows.

The tour will be across America over the summer in support of “The 20/20 Experience.”

“We’re definitely going on tour … I don’t know how much I should say … It’s going to be a lot of fun, I know that,” Justin Timberlake told a red carpet reporter at the Grammys, according to Pitchfork.

According to the reports, they’ll be on tour the same time Beyonce is on tour.

We’re predicting JT, Jay-Z and Bey will join force on the Barclays Center stage. This is just wild speculation based on nothing but our dreams.

Selena Gomez may not be as big a Justin Bieber fan as she was a month ago, but at least the Canadian pop star gets the infant vote. Victoria’s Secret model Miranda Kerr tells Us Weekly that Flynn, her 21-month-old son with husband Orlando Bloom, loves music and dancing — and Bieber’s in particular. “The other day we were in South Africa, I turned on the TV and Justin Bieber’s documentary was on,” Kerr says. “I said, ‘Flynn! Bieber!’ and he said, ‘Bie-ber.’ I said, ‘Bieber Fever’ and he said, ‘Bieber Fever.’ I thought it was the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.”

Ashley Greene knows that the relationship drama between her “Twilight” co-stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson has been getting a lot of attention — especially after Stewart’s cheating scandal this summer — but Greene hopes all the hubbub doesn’t get in the way of the release of the franchise’s final film. “Hopefully it won’t taint it and people will still be able to enjoy the movie,” she tells Seventeen magazine. “I think a lot of people see us as our characters. I really want them to still be able to do that.”

Kevin Clash, the man behind “Sesame Street” star Elmo, has taken a leave of absence from the popular children’s show amid allegations that he had a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old boy, according to Radar Online. “We met with Kevin, who denied the accusation. We also conducted a thorough investigation and found the allegation of underage conduct to be unsubstantiated,” a spokesman for Sesame Workshop says, according to Radar Online. “Although this was a personal relationship unrelated to the workplace, our investigation did reveal that Kevin exercised poor judgment and violated company policy regarding Internet usage, and he was disciplined.” No date has been given for Clash’s return to the show. The star of the documentary “Being Elmo” reportedly told another media outlet recently, “I had a relationship with (the accuser). It was between two consenting adults, and I am deeply saddened that he is trying to make it into something it was not.”

Shia LaBeouf can’t enjoy a drink in peace, apparently. The “Transformers” star hit up a dingy South London pub recently, surprising the regulars, and the evening wasn’t without incident. “No one could believe that a well-known Hollywood star had docked up at a bar in [this neighborhood],” a visitor to the Hobgoblin in New Cross tells the Sun. “Everyone was getting their photos taken with him.” Things took a bad turn, though, when a student stole LaBeouf’s baseball cap. “I think he was just joking, but Shia didn’t like it,” the source says. “The guy just took it off him and wouldn’t give it back. He tried to get it back and they ended up tussling. It was handbags, really. But it shows that even Hollywood stars can’t avoid grief down this way.”

Justin Timberlake is coming under fire for a joke video played at his $6.5 million wedding to Jessica Biel that featured Los Angeles homeless people offering the happy couple well wishes, according to Gawker. The eight-minute video, “Greetings from Your Hollywood Friends Who Just Couldn’t Make It,” was produced by Timberlake friend Justin Huchel, a realtor, and features glassy-eyes and toothless men offering, “Justin and Jessica, I haven’t seen you for a long time. I hope the wedding goes fine for you. My gift is in the mail.” Huchel’s attorney insists it’s all in good fun, telling the Web site, “Mr. Huchel made [the] video to be used and exhibited privately at Justin Timberlake’s wedding as a private joke without Mr. Timberlake’s knowledge.”

New light is being shed on Britney Spears‘ infamous 2007 head-shaving meltdown. Former manager Sam Lufti — who is suing Spears and her family for libel, defamation, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress and breach of contract — claims that the singer had been using hard drugs at the time and was worried a judge might request a test of her hair, possibly leading to her losing custody of her young children, according to the Daily Beast. “She told me she wanted to get clean, but she was struggling with it,” Lufti said on the stand this week. “I told her she needed to do it. I explained to her that society is not going to tolerate a mother with two kids abusing drugs.”

Jessica Simpson‘s parents, Joe and Tina Simpson, are splitting up, with Tina filing for divorce from Joe in Texas last month, citing “discord or conflict of personalities,” according to People magazine. The news comes as the National Enquirer is also reporting that Joe has recently come out of the closet as gay to his family. “It is an amicable split and there is no third party involved,” a rep for the couple says. “Any other related allegations are completely false.” But amicable might not be the right word. In his response to the divorce filing, Joe reportedly requests that Tina get nothing in the split.

It looks like Bobby Brown’s rehab stint in August didn’t take, as the troubled singer was arrested for driving under the influence near Los Angeles this week, according to CNN. This is Brown’s second DUI arrest this year. Police on the scene reportedly detected “a strong scent of alcohol” on Brown and conducted a sobriety test. He was later released on bond. Brown’s stay in rehab over the summer was part of an agreement following his March arrest for driving while intoxicated.

People said it would carry full details of the wedding, including exclusive photos, in next week’s edition.

“Sexy Back” singer and actor Timberlake, 31, and “Total Recall” actress Biel, 30, have been dating on and off since 2007. They announced their engagement at the beginning of 2012, and carefully shielded the details of their nuptials from the public.

The pair have been in southern Italy for much of the week, partying with friends and wedding guests on a beach before exchanging vows. It was not immediately clear on which day the ceremony took place.

Timberlake has previously had high-profile relationships with pop singer Britney Spears and actress Cameron Diaz.

Tennessee native Timberlake, who rose to fame in the boy band N’Sync, forged a successful solo music career before moving into films. He played Napster founder, Sean Parker, in the Oscar-nominated Facebook film, “The Social Network” and more recently starred alongside Amy Adams and Clint Eastwood in “Trouble With The Curve.”

Biel, who was born in Minnesota, started her career on U.S. television in the long-running family drama “7th Heaven.” She broke into movies with a starring role in the 2003 remake of horror flick “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” and has since been seen in “The A-Team” and “New Year’s Eve.”

Did Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel pull a fast one on Hollywood and sneak off to tie the knot this past weekend? At least one gossip columnist says yes. Janet Charlton reports on her blog that the engaged stars were in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, this weekend — the site of Timberlake’s proposal to Biel last December — for a rehearsal dinner Friday night followed by the wedding itself Saturday at a private estate. Their quests were staying at the Four Seasons resort nearby, according to Charlton’s source.

Speaking of secret weddings, Justin Theroux spurred speculation that he and Jennifer Aniston had already sealed the deal when he was spotted walking around New York City this weekend sporting a ring on his left hand, according to E! Online. Of course, he and Aniston have only been engaged a week, and she’s off in North Carolina shooting a movie — and hasn’t even unveiled her engagement ring yet. Plus, the ring Theroux was wearing — a large, gold item with lettering on it — didn’t look very much like a traditional wedding band. Maybe he was just trying to make it clear that he’s off the market.

With the London Olympics behind him, Prince Harry headed back to Las Vegas this weekend for some fun and relaxation, according to People magazine. He didn’t go entirely unnoticed, of course. “A few groups of women approached him throughout the day and he talked to them briefly, but he didn’t really center his attention on anyone,” a source says. “He definitely loved the attention, but he looked to be a gentleman with all the women.”

Katie Couric says she gets “total child list when I see little kids” because she’s starting to regret not having more children. “Sometimes I think I should have had six kids. Or I wish I’d had one [more] at 37, but I was busy. My career,” the 55-year-old mother of two tells Good Housekeeping. “I think emotionally and psychologically, it’s weird to feel like, ‘Gosh, my childbearing years are over.’ And of course they’ve been over for a long time, but still, they’re officially over now. David and Victoria Beckham may be adjusting to having a fourth child with 7-month-old daughter Harper, but that doesn’t mean they’re necessarily done procreating. “We might have one more or two more, you never know,” David says, according to Hollyscoop. “We’re not thinking about it yet, but if it happens, great. We’re enjoying the kids as it is. It’s always a thought.” And Victoria, who has complained recently about being exhausted from work and having a newborn, is still up for more: “I’m not against having more children. I feel lucky having the kids I have and I guess I do like being pregnant,” she says. “But definitely not just yet.”

Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake are trying to keep their engagement quiet, but the senior citizens in their lives aren’t really helping. First, Timberlake’s grandmother spilled the beans about the singer’s proposal, and now Biel’s “New Year’s Eve” director, Garry Marshall, is gushing about their renewed romance. “We talk about it a lot. I hope it all works out. They are terrific kids,” Marshall tells Us Weekly. “I love them both. I’m happy for her.”

Uma Thurman is expecting a baby with financier Arpad Busson, her rep confirms to People magazine. And while the actress wasn’t necessarily ready to talk about her pregnancy, her friends were more than happy to. “Yes, Uma is pregnant,” a Thurman pal tells Life & Style. “She hasn’t announced it yet, but a lot of her friends were asking her, because they could tell the difference when they saw her at New York Fashion Week. She’s usually so skinny, but now she has the cutest little bump and a glow about her.” Thurman also has two children with ex-husband Ethan Hawke.

While Blue Ivy Carter is just 7 weeks old, some of the adults in her life already have a career picked out for her. “She is going to be an entertainer,” Gwyneth Paltrow, who is pals with parents Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z, tells Hollywood Life. “She just has this glow around her like her mother. “Blade Runner” and “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective” star Sean Young was arrested after trying to sneak into the post-Oscars Governer’s Ball Sunday night, according to TMZ. The actress, who recently appeared on “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew,” made it into the party initially and hobnobbed with the likes of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie before being asked to leave, as she didn’t have a ticket for the event. Sources say she then tried to get back into the party, leading to an altercation with security personnel. Young was booked on a misdemeanor battery charge.

It feels like he’s always guest-starring on the show) portraying Bon Iver. Remember after the Grammys when you all asked, ‘who is Bon Iver?’ Well, after Saturday night, we have a feeling we’ll be hearing from Bon Iver quite a bit in the near future.

As for the musical guest, Sleigh Bells “End of the Line” off their forthcoming album, “Reign of Terror.”

Courteney Cox hasn’t been having much luck in the romance department since her split from husband David Arquette, she admits in an interview with Howard Stern. “No guy’s asked me out. I’m not saying I’m not ready to have a make-out session, but it just makes me nervous. I don’t like to go out in general,” she says. “I have sexual feelings, and there’s ways to deal with that.” But Cox admits that dating needs to make its way to the top of her agenda: “It’s time for me to get out there. It’s not easy to meet people. They don’t call me,” she explains.

Zac Efron and “Mirror Mirror” star Lily Collins were spotted attending a birthday party for a pal of Efron’s together at L.A. restaurant STK recently, prompting speculation that the young actors are now an item, according to People magazine. “They even walked in holding hands,” a source says. “They had a drink at the bar together and then joined the birthday crew on the patio.” That same night, though, Efron hit up nightclub Lexington Social House to hang out with Miley Cyrus.

Blue Ivy Carter, the 1-month-old daughter of Jay-Z and Beyonce, is set to be a household name, so naturally her parents felt the need to trademark it. In late January, the couple filed an application at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to prevent Blue Ivy’s name from being used, according to the Washington Post. And they weren’t just being paranoid, as the office had already received — and denied — multiple applications for trademarks using the baby’s name, including a fashion design entrepreneur and a fragrance company. Both were rejected, with the office citing that the name belongs “to a very famous infant.”

Jennifer Aniston is used to the rumors and stories about her that keep the tabloids in business, but that doesn’t mean she has to like them. In fact, as she tells InStyle magazine, one — involving Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie — is particularly more annoying than the others. “There are so many,” she says of the misconceptions about her. “I would say the triangle with my ex-husband — and that there’s a feud there. It’s constant. It’s a story headline that won’t go away, but it’s a money thing — a story that has nothing to do with reality.”

Justin Timberlake reportedly skipped the Super Bowl to celebrate his 31st birthday with weekend of skiing in British Columbia, Canada, according to the Calgary Herald. “One of our employees had quite the interesting experience. It was one of those ‘no way, no way, that’s not him’ moments,” the owner of a local ski shop tells the newspaper.  “He was smaller than [we] thought. And he was going around with a bit of a beard.” There was no word if Jessica Biel, to whom he recently proposed, was along for the trip.

Lindsay Lohan reportedly has a new man in her life — 21-year-old Henry Hopper, son of the late Dennis Hopper and star of Gus Van Sant’s recent “Restless,” according to TMZ. Lohan and Hopper were recently spotted picking up a clutch of vodka and Red Bull at a Venice Beach liquor store near the home Lohan is in the process of moving out of. “Lindsay’s been in here before,” a store employee says. “Today she brings in this young guy and they were all touchy-feely and they kissed on the lips a couple times. Just quick little love-pecks but they were definitely together.”

Blake Lively is looking forward to having kids one day, and given her extensive wardrobe, she’s hoping they turn out a particular way. “I hope to have a few girls one day,” she tells Elle Magazine. “If not girls, they better be trannies. I have some amazing shoes and bags and stories than need to be appreciated.

Even though she’s set to play adult film star Linda Lovelace on screen, Amanda Seyfried is “terrified of being promiscuous,” she admits to Glamour magazine.“I don’t like the feeling you get when it’s not something that you truly want to do, and I hate the emotional abuse you give yourself afterward. It’s just uncomfortable when you’re with somebody and you’re like, ‘I don’t really know if I’m even comfortable with this.’” Which might have something to do with why Seyfried has taken herself off the market:  “Right now I’m happy to not have someone’s naked body around me. Madonna’s daughter, Lourdes Leon, was pressed into service for “W.E.,” though her debut performance didn’t make the cut, the Material Mom tells MTV. “There was a scene where she played Wally as a young girl, and I just kind of dragged her in at the last minute,” Madonna says of having her daughter play a young Wallis Simpson, the subject of her new film. “It was quite unfair of me to do what I did and what I asked her to do, but she was really great.” Apparently not great enough, though: “I ended up cutting her out of the film. Ruthless, I know,” Madonna says. “I said, ‘Sorry babe, you’re on the cutting room floor.’ She took it like a champ.”

David Beckham wants the world to know he will no longer be hanging out at home in the buff. “My naked days are over,” Beckham says while unveiling his new line of underwear for H&M, according to Hollyscoop. “I definitely walk around the house in my underwear. But not naked. With the boys it’s not a problem because they’re naked all the time but with a little girl now, it is different.”

Timberlake, 30, reportedly proposed to Biel, 29, in the mountains of Jackson, Wyoming in a nod to her love of the great outdoors.

“Justin knows how much she loves snowboarding and the mountains, so it was the perfect place,” an insider told Us Weekly.

The couple called it quits for about three months in 2011, but obviously decided to take things to the next level when they reunited.

“He knew it was the right time to propose,” another source close to Timberlake told the magazine.

But with Timberlake now establishing himself on screen, she’s more than happy to talk about the propensity to date fellow actors. “I think those are the people you meet and so it just kind of happens,” says Biel. “Let me tell you: It never happens on purpose.”
 
Gaga and Kinney: It’s on!

Lady Gaga reportedly had so much fun making out with “Vampire Diaries” star Taylor Kinney during the shoot for her “You and I” video that she’s reportedly decided to keep it going off-camera as well, according to Us Weekly. “They’re hooking up and getting to know each other,” a source says. But while they are enjoying each other’s company, it’s not serious.
 
Richards reignites old flame

Denise Richards has reportedly rekindled her romance with Richie Sambora, according to Us Weekly. “They’ve always stayed friends, through everything they’ve gone through,” a source says. “He’s had a rough patch, she’s had her own stuff, but they’re both in a great place right now.” The pair dated in 2006 after she split from Charlie Sheen and he divorced Heather Locklear, but the relationship only lasted about a year. Now the pair are said to be “doing great and happy.”

Justin Timberlake might be avoiding the spotlight for a little while, he warns. “I’ve spent a lot of time feeling like I needed to validate so much of who I was by what I did,” he tells Esquire magazine. “I think you can work and work and work and never really live.” So what is Timberlake planning to do instead? “The plan is to have no plan,” he says. “I’ll probably travel, but I’d rather be spontaneous. I feel like I’ve earned at least a little bit of time to do that.”

Sandy’s nursery steps up

The bar has been raised when it comes to shopping for Sandra Bullock’s infant son, Louis, after the actress’s agents picked up a $14,000 Andy Warhol painting at a charity auction and gave it as a gift to the young boy, according to Hollyscoop. “I want to thank Kevin Huvane and Bryan Lourd for not being cheap f—s and gifting my son with his first Warhol,” Bullock joked at the event.

Halloween gets tricky for Usher

Usher ran afoul of a fellow citizen after parking in a handicap space in Atlanta recently, according to TMZ. His black SUV was stopped outside a Halloween costume shop when an unidentified woman started screaming at him. After being ignored for too long, the woman turned violent, lunging at the singer and his companions.

Kelly Clarkson still looking

Kelly Clarkson wants to clarify that she is not a lesbian. “I’m from a small town, so everyone’s married with children or about to have children,” she says during a visit to “The View.” “That’s why people think I’m gay — because they’re like, ‘Why aren’t you married?’ And I’m like, ‘It doesn’t happen for everyone right off the bat!’”

Of course he says that now, at age 30 — and playing a convincing 25 on screen. Maybe he’ll change his tune after another 10 or 20 years. But for now, movies like “In Time” are helping keep him young, especially considering all the action involved. “On top of being a really rich story filled with lots of things, I got to live out a lot of boyhood fantasies in this movie — shooting guns and getting to learn how to stunt-drive,” he says, grinning.

Given the time-sensitive nature of the film, there was of course lots of running involved — which was fine for Timberlake, but not so much his co-star, Amanda Seyfried, who did most of the chases in high heels. It was a necessity for the plot as well as for practical reasons, though, Timberlake jokes. “We debated actually in the middle of a scene her taking the heels off and just running without them, but she would have gotten lost in the frame,” he says, teasing his much more diminutive leading lady.

One pitfall of a high-concept action thriller can be overly expositional, and that was something Timberlake was keen to watch out for, going so far as to consult Andrew Niccol, the film’s writer, director and producer, about paring down the script. “There were some scenes that I remember Amanda and I would go to Andrew and say, ‘We live in this world and this world seems like everyday for us,’” Timberlake explains. “If there was anything, I felt like we would take lines out because it’s always nicer I think when you can play out a scene and it can read without dialogue.” Saves more time for the running, shooting and driving, at least.

The Occupy Wall Street connection

A major theme of “In Time” is taking on an elite that controls all the resources in society — something that coincidentally finds great resonance with the current Occupy Wall Street movement as the film hits theaters. Of course it was all planned this way, jokes Amanda Seyfried, claiming that Niccol “actually said when we were shooting the movie, ‘They’re going to occupy Wall Street like, the next year when this comes out. So I think this is a great time to make it.’”

It was announced yesterday by a legal inquest looking into the death of the “Back in Black” singer that she had more than five times the legal driving limit of alcohol in her blood when she died on July 23 at age 27, Reuters reports. Her death was deemed “death by misadventure” by British coroner Suzanne Greenaway, who explained that the singer died because of excessive drinking, according to the Evening Standard. “She had consumed sufficient alcohol,” Greenaway says, “and the unintended consequence of such potentially fatal levels was her sudden and unexpected death.”

Even more tragic? The London hearing states the singer had not drank alcohol that month until a fewdays before it killed her. She had no illegal substances in her system.

Her family, who was present at yesterday’s inquest, didn’t talk to the press but released a statement stating: “The court heard that Amy was battling hard to conquer her problems with alcohol and it is a source of great pain to us that she could not win in time. She had started drinking again that week after a period of abstinence.”

Not to make light of Winehouse’s tragic demise but you have to question the Brit-speak ruling.
“Death by misadventure” makes it sound like she was swinging on a vine and then fell into a crocodile pit, right?

Tween Timberlake and Gosling: Lil’ thugs

Oh, to be a fly on the wall during Justin Timberlake and Ryan Gosling’s early years.

Timberlake admitted to Ellen DeGeneres at a visit to her talk show that he and Gosling used to get into a fair amount of trouble when they were castmates on “The Mickey Mouse Club” during their teenage years. “We used to do terrible things. We thought we were so cool. Looking back on them, they weren’t as bad as I thought they were at the time. We stole a golf cart. And we were like, ‘Yeah, man. We’re stealing a golf cart!’” Timberlake says the pair bonded when they lived together while Gosling’s mother stayed in Canada for work. “We were probably a little closer than the rest of the kids that were on the show just because we had to share a bathroom,” Timberlake says.

Beyonce is having a girl! (Maybe!)

I have no idea how In Touch Weekly knows this but they are reporting that Beyonce and Jay-Z are having a baby girl. “Beyonce is thrilled she’s having a daughter,” confides a close friend of the singer’s, explaining that while Beyonce and her husband, Jay-Z, would be happy to have a healthy child of either sex, she’d secretly been hoping for a girl. “She and her mother are so close, and she’s wanted to have that relationship with her own child.”

In the magazine’s defense, they have a 50-50 shot of guessing the truth, which can probably be said for most of their reporting.

Rogan got hitched

Seth Rogan celebrated the release of his new film, “50/50,” by marrying his longtime girlfriend, writer Lauren Miller, at Kunde Estate in Sonoma, Calif., according to Us Weekly. “The wedding was more laughs than anything else,” a source says of the three-day celebration. “Every other line was a joke and the crowd couldn’t contain their laughter. It was nonstop fun!” That’s not surprising, given that the guest list included Judd Apatow and his wife, Leslie Mann, as well as Jonah Hill, Paul Rudd and “The Office” star Craig Robinson.

Arquette moves on

A year after his split from estranged wife Courteney Cox, David Arquette has found someone new. The current “Dancing with the Stars” contestant is dating Christina McLarty, who was previously married to “Girls Gone Wild” impresario Joe Francis, according to People. “I’m not one to run around with different girls,” Arquette told Howard Stern. “I like someone that makes me feel good and that I can make feel good.”

A third photo reportedly featured male genitalia. “We would like to confirm that the photo addressed in the media of Ms. Kunis was in fact not from any phone but from an inactive e-mail account that has not existed in three years,” the statement reads. “In regards to the other photos in question, they were never exchanged between the two parties.”

Morgan to be married

He might want to take her behind the middle school and get her pregnant, but Tracy Morgan is going to make girlfriend Megan Wallover his wife first. “We got engaged six months ago,” the “30 Rock” star confirmed to E! News’ Ryan Seacrest at the Emmys on Sunday. Wallover, who was by his side at the awards show, says despite Morgan’s reputation for outlandish behavior, the proposal was quite traditional. “We were in San Francisco,” Wallover told Seacrest. “It wasn’t anything crazy. He was on bended knee.”

Singer Justin Timberlake took home two more Emmys in his burgeoning career as a comedic actor. The 30-year-old already has two Emmys for his previous work on “Saturday Night Live.” He won the guest comedy actor Emmy for hosting the season finale of “SNL” in May, and shared another for co-writing the original song in his opening monologue for the show.

Some 76 awards were announced in categories ranging from costumes and picture-editing to reality host ahead of the main acting, comedy and drama series awards ceremony on Sept. 18.

Lady Gaga has made it clear that she’s possibly Madonna’s biggest fan, but the same apparently can’t be said for Madge’s feelings about “Mother Monster.” “As for Lady Gaga, I have no comment to make about her obsessions having to do with me because I don’t know whether her behavior is rooted in something deep and meaningful or superficial,” Madonna tells French newspaper Le Soir. Her rep has tried to smooth things over,  telling E! News, “I do know that [Madonna] has said many supportive things about Gaga over the years.”

Hannigan: Not pregnant

Alyson Hannigan took to Twitter to clear up pregnancy rumors after a photo where she appeared to be sporting a baby bump popped up online. “No, I’m not pregnant! I just ate too much carnival food, that time of the month, hurt my back and couldn’t suck my gut in — and need to do cardio,” the star posted in response.

Biel and Timberlake were spotted recently sharing brunch and a leisurely bike ride in Toronto, where Biel is currently filming. “They were in good spirits,” an eyewitness says. “They seemed happy. They had brunch together. They were talking. They enjoyed their food. They had a nice time.” But even if the pair are rekindling their flame, don’t expect Timberlake to get too talkative about it. “In my 30 years, she is the most special person,” he told Vanity Fair in June. “I don’t want to say much more, because I have to protect things that are dear to me — for instance, her.”

Baby time for Weisz?

Newlyweds Rachel Weisz and Daniel Craig haven’t ruled out adding a baby to their household, but the motivation has to be right, Weisz tells Lucky magazine. “Oh, I wouldn’t make [a baby] just for the sake of giving my son a sibling,” she says. “But you never know.” Weisz has a 5-year-old son, Henry, from her relationship with Darren Aronofsky, while Craig has a 19-year-old daughter, Ella, from a previous marriage.

Blake Lively made quite the trek for a belated birthday dinner with rumored boyfriend Leonardo DiCaprio, reportedly flying to Australia, where he’s filming “The Great Gatsby,” according to Us Weeky. Sources say the pair shared a romantic dinner in Sydney to toast Lively’s 24th birthday. It was something of a whirlwind trip, though, as the “Gossip Girl” star was back at work in New York by Tuesday, sources confirm.

What could this mean?
