A woman was sexually assaulted by another patient in the emergency room of Harlem Hospital after taking a painkiller for her injured foot and falling asleep, the Daily News reports.

The woman, in her mid-forties, reportedly woke up at about 3 p.m. on Friday to find Tyrone Brown, 49, rubbing her mouth with his penis. She attempted to get away and he urinated on her before hospital staff seized him.

Brown was arrested by hospital police and taken to Bellevue Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation. He has been charged with committing a criminal sex act.

Brown has a long arrest record stretching back 30 years, mostly related to theft, the New York Post reports.

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel called sexual assault a “scourge” on Saturday as he addressed graduates of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, where a sergeant stands accused of videotaping female cadets in the showers.

“Sexual harassment and sexual assault in the military are a profound betrayal – a profound betrayal – of sacred oaths and sacred trusts,” Hagel said. “This scourge must be stamped out.”

His comments came a day after President Barack Obama delivered a similar message to graduates at the U.S. Naval Academy, saying sexual assault threatened to erode trust and discipline in America’s armed forces.

The Pentagon is reeling from a series of sex-related scandals in recent weeks, including cases in which military advocates for victims of sexual assault were themselves accused of sex crimes.

A study released by the Defense Department two weeks ago estimated that reports of unwanted sexual contact in the military, from groping to rape, rose 37 percent in 2012, to about 26,000 cases from 19,000 the previous year.

At West Point in New York state, Sergeant First Class Michael McClendon was charged last week with four counts, including indecent acts, dereliction of duty and cruelty, the Army said.

McClendon had served as a tactical non-commissioned officer at the academy since 2009, a job that put him in charge of mentoring and training a company of about 121 cadets.

The incidents have embarrassed the U.S. military and prompted members of Congress to introduce legislation designed to toughen up the Pentagon’s handling of sex crimes.

Hagel, in his address, noted that budget cuts were impacting military readiness and morale. But he cited sexual assault and sexual harassment among other, growing threats to America’s all-volunteer force.

“You will need to not just deal with these debilitating, insidious and destructive forces but rather you must be the generation of leaders that stop it,” he said.

Cops are searching for a man who sexually assaulted a 21-year-old woman aboard a Brooklyn 4 train last week.

The victim was riding a southbound 4 train at about 3 a.m. on May 15 when the suspect exposed himself to her, police said. The man tried to engage in a conversation with the woman while exposing himself. When the woman refused, the suspect grabbed her and forced her against the train door.

When the doors opened at the Saratoga Avenue station, the victim escaped and ran towards the train conductor. The train conductor opened the doors so the victim could get on the train and then closed the doors before the suspect could follow her.

The suspect fled the station onto Livonia Avenue. He is being described as black, in his late 20s, approximately 200-220 lbs. and 6 feet tall. He was last seen wearing a green and blue waist-length windbreaker and dark blue jeans.

Police have arrested a 25-year-old man for sexually assaulting two 7-year-old girls in the South Ozone Park section of Queens last week.

Lee Samuel allegedly approached his first victim May 1 while she was tying her shoe on the sidewalk and tapped her on her buttocks, according to the Queens District Attorney’s office.

A few hours later on the same day, Samuel allegedly approached his second victim in front of her home and asked her if she wanted to play a game. Samuel then told the girl to cover her eyes with her hands and stick out her tongue. When the girl uncovered her eyes, she saw that Samuel had exposed himself. He then grabbed her by the waist and engaged in a sexual act with the child.

Samuel is charged with forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child in the first incident and first-degree criminal sexual act and endangering the welfare of a child in the second incident.

“The defendant is accused of being a sexual predator. Such an allegation makes him a threat to children and a clear and present danger to society in general. Such conduct, if proven true, cannot go unpunished,” said Queens District Attorney Richard Brown.

Samuel faces up to 25 years in prison if he is convicted.

Police are still on the hunt for a man who sexually assaulted two 7-year-old girls in South Ozone Park last week and have released a new surveillance video of the suspect.

Cops are seeking the public’s help in tracking down the suspect who allegedly grabbed the buttocks of a 7-year-old girl while she was standing on the stoop of her home last Wednesday. Just a few hours later, the same suspect approached another 7-year-old girl who was standing in her driveway and made her to perform a sexual act.

Police are searching for a man who sexually assaulted two 7-year-old girls in Queens on Wednesday.

The suspect approached the first victim at approximately 2:45 p.m. on the stoop of her home in South Ozone Park and grabbed her buttocks, police said. The victim’s 12-year-old sister yelled at the suspect and he ran off.

About three hours later, the suspect approached another 7-year-old female who was in the driveway of her home, also in South Ozone Park. He forced the girl to perform a criminal sexual act and then fled the location.

A 38-year-old woman was sexually assaulted and then robbed by two men in the Bowery neighborhood of Manhattan after she asked them for directions, police said.

The victim approached the suspects near Chrystie Street and Grand Street at approximately 9:30 p.m. on April 15, according to police. She asked the two men for directions, and the first suspect walked with her in the direction she needed to go.

The second suspect followed the two, grabbed the woman from behind and pinned her against the wall. The first suspect proceeded to punch her in the ribs and thigh. He then sexually assaulted her before removing her property and fleeing.

Police have released a sketch of the suspect accused of sexually assaulting the victim.

Police are searching for a man who sexually assaulted a woman early Sunday morning near City Hall Park in lower Manhattan. 

The woman was attacked at about 4:45 a.m. in the vicinity of Park Row and Beekman Street, cops said. The suspect followed the 28-year-old victim into Theatre Alley, where he pushed her to the ground and then attempted to rape her.

Nearby construction workers heard the woman scream and ran over, scaring off the suspect, the New York Post reported.

The victim was taken to an area hospital where she was listed in stable condition. Police released a surveillance photo of a man wanted for questioning Sunday night.

Police are looking for a man who attempted to rob a woman and then sexually assaulted her while she was walking her dog in the Kips Bay neighborhood of Manhattan.

The man approached the victim, 28, about 2 a.m. April 6 on East 27th Street, police said. He displayed a black handgun and demanded money and a cellphone. When the woman said she didn’t have anything, he sexually assaulted her and then fled the scene.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 6 feet tall and heavyset with a bald head. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored sweatshirt with a bubble vest.

Police have arrested a 33-year-old Bronx man who is accused of violently attacking and sexually assaulting at least four different women during the past month and a half.

Miguel Lopez is the man police have been searching for since Feb. 24 when he allegedly first attacked a 27-year-old victim as she was walking to the train near 161st Street in the late afternoon. He allegedly grabbed the woman from behind, punched her repeatedly and then sexually assaulted her.

Lopez attacked three other women in the Bronx, mostly in the early morning or late at night. He often punched his victims and sometimes threatened them with a knife or box cutter.

The most recent incident occurred March 31 in Bedford Park. The suspect followed a 40-year-old woman and a 49-year-old man into an apartment building and robbed them at knifepoint. He then continued to follow the female victim, forced his way into her apartment and raped her.

Lopez faces a number of charges, including sexual abuse, rape, robbery and criminal possession of a weapon.

The suspect, described as a Hispanic male in his late 20s, came at the victim from behind and shoved her to the ground about 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

He punched her in the face repeatedly and sexually assaulted her before running away.

Police reported that the victim suffered bruising and contusions.

Cops say the man was about 5 foot 5 inches tall and thin, wearing a ski mask, gray jacket and white sneakers. They have provided a surveillance video showing the suspect without a ski mask, and are requesting the public’s assistance in catching him.

A 26-year-old Bronx man has been arrested after he reportedly sexually assaulted a 14-year-old boy inside an apartment building in Parkchester.

Clive Rosario has been charged with two counts of criminal sex act and one count of sexual abuse, according to police. Rosario allegedly followed the victim into the building on March 25, started a conversation with him and then sexually assaulted him.

A 23-year-old man has been charged for using a stun gun to subdue his ex-girlfriend at her Queens apartment and then sexually assaulting her. He was arrested Wednesday at Kennedy International Airport where he tried to flee with the stun gun still in his carry-on bag.

Prodromos Vasilopoulos, of Athens, Greece, was trying to board a flight to London after he attacked his former girlfriend inside her Jamaica, Queens apartment earlier this week, according to the Queens District Attorney’s office. The suspect was able to pass through TSA screening with the weapon in his bag, raising some questions about how he got passed security. He was arrested near the boarding gate.

Vasilopoulos allegedly posed as a UPS delivery man to gain entry into the 19-year-old victim’s apartment on Tuesday. He allegedly jolted her with the stun gun and then shoved his fingers in her mouth to stop her from screaming. He then took her to her bedroom and placed a pillow over her face to stop her from breathing before sexually assaulting her.

The suspect also allegedly made 200 calls and text messages to the victim between Feb. 16 and Feb. 21 in which he threatened to make her pay for breaking up with him.

He is charged with predatory sexual assault, first-degree burglary, second-degree assault, strangulation and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He is also charged in second complaint with second-degree aggravated harassment and second-degree harassment.

Police are searching for three men who sexually assaulted a transgender woman at gunpoint inside of a Midtown hotel on Thursday.

The 27-year-old victim was assaulted at about 2 a.m. on Thursday. She was in a room with one of the men when they got into an argument, police said. She told the suspect to leave, but he returned moments later with at least two other men.

The three men sexually assaulted the victim while one held out a firearm and threatened to shoot her if she did not stop screaming.

One suspect is described as a black male, about 5 ft. 9 in. with a Chinese character tattooed on his chest. The other two men are described as black males between the ages of 18 and 28.

Police are searching for man who allegedly sexually assaulted a 23-year-old woman and robbed her in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn.

The suspect, who is described to be in his early 20s, approached a woman near Decatur Street and Ralph Avenue on Sunday around 6 a.m. He grabbed the woman by the neck, took her money and sexually assaulted her. He then choked the victim before fleeing on foot.

Cops described the suspect as a black male between 5 ft. 6 in. and 5 ft. 9 in. He has a thin mustache and was last seen wearing a dark jacket and blue sneakers.
