Gamers can be a difficult lot to buy for. You can’t get them a game because they probably camped out at Best Buy to get it the day it came out. Here are a few suggestions.
Roomba/Scooba
$300-$400
Wait. How would a robot vacuum be a good gift for a gamer? The vidiot in your life is probably playing “Skyrim” and that game can suck away hundreds of hours like so much dust. That doesn’t leave time for cleaning. Get them a Roomba for vacuuming and its new cousin the Scooba for mopping. Too bad they don’t make robots for paying bills or spending time with your family.
Striiv: Personal Trainer in Your Pocket
$99
Again, it must be noted that gads of people are currently logging hundreds of hours into “Skyrim.” That’s a whole lot of couch time. Throw them a health-conscious life raft before their veins turns into General Tso’s chicken. The Striiv Personal Trainer pocket device gets people exercising through immense gamification. This touch-screen gadget is filled to the brim with varying goals and addictive games. It doesn’t lay on the guilt like a family member, but it’ll certainly do in a pinch.
iWOW 3D
$59.99
Does your loved one tinker on their iPhone or iPad when they should be paying attention to the world around them? You will never convince them of proper social decorum, so you may as well just get them a cool plug-in speaker for iOS devices. This way you can at least follow along as they play “Infinity Blade 2” or watch “outfit of the day” videos on YouTube. Our favorite speaker set is the iWOW 3D by SRS Labs.
