Earning cash on your own time using apps? Now what excuse will you use for being too busy for a job at college?
Considering a part-time job when you head back to school but worried about your class load? Worry no more! The solution could be as close as your app store. There are plenty that let you earn cash and rewards on the go. Tech expert Katie Linendoll offers a few suggestions to get you started.
TaskRabbit
TaskRabbit is perfect for students who don’t want to commit to a work schedule.
“People short on time- meet people who have time,” says Linendoll.
Task Rabbit now offers an iPhone app the lets people make money by offering their help to complete tasks. Those tasks can range from assembling furniture and picking up dry cleaning to delivering groceries.
“As imagined, there are a variety of strange tasks as well, like wearing a bear costume, though, it should be noted that inappropriate tasks are typically taken down quickly.”
CheckPoints
CheckPoints is an app that can be very rewarding just for adding one extra step to something you’re already doing.
“If, for example, you check-in to a grocery store, it will show you how many points are available by scanning certain product bar codes,” says Linendoll.
After you rack up those points, use them towards airline miles, gadgets and gift cards for Amazon and iTunes.
Field Agent
Field Agent is perfect for students who are always on the go. This app lets you use GPS to find money-making tasks from "clients" in your area.
“A typical example is to fill out a survey on their business or to check and see if a particular in-store item has a sale sticker on it," says Linendoll. "The agent would take the picture and send to the client."
Payment typically ranges from $3 to $8 per task.
