Three numbers that matter for the B’s
Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals is a day away. Here’s three numbers that will decide whether the Bruins get a shot at the Cup or go home.
From a hockey perspective, the best thing about Tampa Bay is its third line.Sean Bergenheim, Dominic Moore and Steve Downie have looked great — hats off to Steve Yzerman for putting this group together. Do the Bruins have the depth to keep up with them?
As good as Tim Thomas has been in the playoffs, Tampa Bay goalie Dwayne Roloson has actually posted a better GAA (2.01 vs. 2.03). If the B’s aren’t careful, they’ll be the second Boston team in a week to be beaten by a Dwayne … and this one actually spells his name correctly.
It’s time for the B’s to get that power play working; they’re just 2-for-37 in the postseason. If they don’t start cycling the puck better and taking open shots when they’re available, they won’t have a prayer against a very good Tampa Bay PK.
