What’s bugging you? Lincecum out, hopes to make start today

Lincecum is 2-1 with a 3.11 ERA against the Phillies.

Tim Lincecum looked as white as the baseballs he throws so effectively while sitting at his locker last night, two hours before his scheduled start.

The Giants ace was scratched from starting for the second consecutive game versus the Phillies due to the flu.

Lincecum, who caught the bug here, insisted that he didn’t come down with his illness after downing a cheesesteak. He also said that he didn’t catch it Monday after the Giants visited the White House.
“They didn’t serve us anything,” Lincecum said.

Maybe that has something to do with the debt ceiling. The skinny, fast-food junkie has been on a steady diet of pedialyte.

“I feel lousy,” said Lincecum. “You want to make sure you’re fine before you go out there. Why throw four crappy innings as opposed to coming through with a good quality start? We have a guy [Matt Cain] who can go on regular rest. Hopefully, I can pitch tomorrow.”

Lincecum, who is 2-1 with a 3.11 ERA in seven starts against the Phillies, respects the team his squad beat in the NLCS.

“They have a very good club over there,” Lincecum said. “You saw how tough they were last year during the playoffs.”

Lincecum said he doesn’t pay attention to Phillies fans, who shower him with cat-calls and chant ‘Tim-my’ when he’s on the bump.

“You block all of the stuff out that doesn’t have anything to do with baseball,” Lincecum said. “The fans are good here. They’re really into it. It’s always tough here because of the team and the fans are really into it. It’s a good atmosphere.”
