Tyler Seguin confident he’ll avoid a sophomore slump
In contemplating such a fate at Bruins Media Day yesterday, center Tyler Seguin was sanguine.
“I don’t want to fall into that,” Seguin said. “With my stats last year, I don’t think I even could. The only place I can go is up.”
The second overall pick in the 2010 Draft, Seguin endured a difficult rookie season, scoring just 11 goals and not being placed on the original postseason roster. But when injuries opened the door to ice time, Seguin never looked back, including a memorable two-goal game in the Eastern Conference finals.
And with a short offseason, Seguin kept the momentum going. In the Bruins’ four preseason games, Seguin led the team with three goals, including one on the power play.
“I was expecting that, to be honest with you,” said Patrice Bergeron, whose concussion in May led to Seguin’s entry into the postseason. “From my first to second year, I gained so much confidence just by being around the guys and learning.”
