The Cold, Hard Football Facts

A look at this weekend’s NFL action through the eyes of the football stat experts at Coldhardfootballfacts.com.

Looking at ‘Real QB Rating’

Winning in the NFL typically hinges on superior QB play. And passer rating is a great way to measure that. But passer rating has one major problem: it measures only passing and nothing else. Real QB Rating measures all aspects of quarterback play: passing, plus rushing, sacks, fumbles, etc. — and spits out the performance in a number similar to passer rating.

Teams with a better passer rating are 74-29 (.718). But teams with a better “Real QB Rating” are an incredible 87-16 (.845). Here is the top 5 and other notable teams in Real QB Rating.

1. Green Bay (114.4)
2. New England (99.2)
3. New Orleans (99.1)
4. Buffalo (91.5)
5. Houston (90.3)
7. N.Y. Giants (89.4)
14. Philadelphia (77.3)
18. N.Y. Jets (73.9)
32. Jacksonville (51.0)

Ffchamps.com’s ‘Start and Sit’

Start him

Giants RB Ahmad Bradshaw
Broke loose for 104 rushing yards and three TDs in his last appearance in Week 6 versus Buffalo, and should be headed for another strong performance versus Miami’s 18th-ranked run defense — and will be coming off a bye.

Sit him
Browns RB Peyton Hillis/Montario Hardesty
We’re not sure who will start, but they are up against the No. 2 run  defense, San Fran, which has yet to allow a score on the ground and will be playing on their home turf.
