Woman arrested for stalking Brian Cashman (UPDATE)
UPDATE — Cashman’s wife, Mary, has filed for divorce. The paperwork was filed in Stamford, Conn. where the couple has a home. Brian Cashman and Mary both refused comment through their lawyers.
A Manhattan woman was arrested for allegedly stalking Yankees general manager Brian Cashman, according to various media reports.
Louise Neathway, 35, is also accused of extorting $6,000 from Cashman, who reportedly played a role in luring the woman into a police sting. She was arrested in front of her Leonard Street home Thursday. Neathway apparently also goes by the last name Meanwell and has a history of arrests for both stalking and illegal trespessing.
“The defendant extorted $6,000 from the victim and attempted to extort more than $15,000,” said prosecutor Eric Iverson.
The sports web site Deadspin.com recently posted an interview with a woman named “Lou,” who claimed to have had an affair with the married Cashman.
The New York Post has reported that “Lou” and Louise Neathway are the same person. The woman, according to Deadspin, apparently contacted Cashman’s wife, Mary, and threatened to expose the affair.
Deadspin reported Cashman had an affair with a different woman in 2009 as well.
